any who, could you say some more about this? this may be the first time i've read it. which events does the for her mode cap?
or if you have a link, i'd like to read more about it.
I don't have a link, I just go by what's in the manual:
* Treats apneas up to 12 cm H 2 O and continues to respond to flow limitation and snore up to 20 cm H 2 O.
So, it'll stop raising the pressure because of OAs at 12, but will continue raising pressure in response to snores and FLs.
(I'm not sure about hypos, but I'm guessing that they're treated the same as OAs.

huh. i suppose i actually ought to read the damned thing. guess that's why the "for her" mode didn't do much for me, but i had to try it anyway.
thanks for reading it so i don't have to.

That is really fascinating. I'll be interested to see what happens when I change the mode tonight.

Well, that went well. I would totally take this if I can get a couple more hours before waking!
The pressure did go over the former max, but not for long. And there was more up and down of pressure. And this was just one night, but I'll keep on with the regular mode and see what happens. Thanks for your help!

Definitely worth continuing this experiment. Good job.
I forget....refresh my memory please as to the mask you are using????

I'm using the P10. I tried several other nasal cradle types but this seems to move around the least.

Can you confirm that you have selected nasal pillow type of mask on your machine?
I am still scratching my head as to why your baseline leak is a bit high.
And I am wondering why no gray blocks of large leak are showing on the leak graph itself.
I am using the P10 myself right now because recent hand surgery has made it impossible to do the Bleep attachment process and while I don't always see baseline 0.0....sometimes I do and when I don't it's usually a baseline of around 2 to 4 L/min.
See my report below. From 01:45 to about 3:30 on the leak graph the baseline is at 0.0 which is why we don't see any blips on the leak graph line. I have yet to figure out why I don't see 0.0 at the beginning of the night when I know I am awake and there is zero leak going on. This isn't critical to know but I don't like things that don't fall into a "logical" answer.
I don't lose sleep worrying about it but I do wonder why the baseline isn't consistent and what I expect.

Oh that is weird. But yes, I have "Pillows" selected.

I raised my minimum, and last night the initial pressure leap after falling asleep went above 15. The noise from the machine (I can relate to the discussion about the Resmed Autoset 10 and noise) and the burst of pressure woke me up! I was able to get back to sleep fairly quickly though and the second time it only went up to 13.

You don't, apparently, realize that the pressure only changes over a period of minutes, there is no 'burst'.

Okay, I should have phrased that better. Something awakened me in the 7 minutes that the machine went from 7-15. Upon waking the intensity of the pressure was such that I could not easily fall back asleep so I restarted the machine.

Ever think that maybe whatever was causing the machine to want to go to 15 might have been a factor in the wake up?
Maybe some sort of airway obstruction caused the arousal and then you woke up and realized where the pressure was at???
Something to think about.
Might look closely at the flow rate prior to the wake up and see if you can spot why the machine wanted to go to 15....
these machines have real good reasons to go (or not go) somewhere. It was wanting to kill something.

What woke you was the breathing problems (they disturb your sleep and cause constant wakeups, even if you don't
remember them) that were causing the machine to increase pressure.
You're blaming the effect, not the cause.
Having your min pressure higher than it is will prevent those breathing problems from waking you up.

I think the machine might be reacting to flow limitations with that initial large rise of pressure? There's never any event noted and the flow rate graphs are very regular. There is sometimes one taller/deeper breath but it doesn't extend longer, if that makes sense. I was trying to copy and paste just the flow rate graph but I can't figure it out right now.
Just for laughs, here's last night's record. I tried an M instead of an S nasal pillow. But it might not be the mask's fault. We helped our daughter move and cared for her dogs so between the dust and dander I may have been more congested. I know I woke up at one point on my back breathing through my mouth which is rare according to my husband.

I have had a few nights like that. Couldn't tame the leaks no matter what I did. I shrug my shoulders and move on and plan for the next night to be better.....and cross my fingers.
I do think that the marked increase in pressure initially is definitely related to the flow limitations and those leaks might also be related if you were having much nasal congestion that meant you had to open your mouth to breathe.
Look at the flow limitation graph 03:00 to 03:30....it is reduced and so is your pressure.
