Anyone have fond memories of getting vaxxed in this way? Occasionally would get you from both sides at the same time. Don't flinch!!

I got vaxed. this way when I got drafted into the Army. Then I went overseas and because they lost our records we did it all over again. They didn't even ask us if we wanted to get vaxed either time LOL.

I wouldn't say I have fond memories of it, but I remember getting sprayvaxed that way when I was in grade school.

...if you were vaxxed with the ole' Jet Gun while in the military, you should ask your doctor to test you for Hepatitis (I believe B & C).

Those guns were NOT exactly cleaned properly between each injection and all sorts of infections could have easily passed between recipients. Hepatitis is one that can linger for a long time in someone before causing issues later on in life.

Yes, got the flu shot a couple weeks ago. No side efffects. Asked today at my pharmacy about the Moderna booster, and they are not making it available until the booster is approved.

I have never gotten a flu shot and don't ever plan to. Have heard too many horror stories from those who have.
I've had a few bouts with the flu over about 50 years and have survived. I could probably count them on one hand.
I figured that "What doesn't kill you, makes you stronger".
The last time I had the flu was either in 2009 or 2010. I know it was the flu in 2009 because it was going around the facility where I worked. But, 2010 may have only been a nasty cold.

With this Covid situation, I wasn't about to take chances and got the shots early this year.......Jan & Feb.

You aren't getting any younger. The next one might take you out.

Possibly.
But, by having and surviving those times when I did have it, I believe my natural immunity was increased.
That's what they're saying about the Covid virus.......if you have it and survive, your immune system is 27 times better than by being vaccinated.

"they".

There are as many, or more, "they" that are saying the opposite, that the various vaccines provide a broader immunity by priming the immune system to attack a more generic aspect of the virus, that is shared in common with the different variants, while IF you get covid and survive, your immune system may only be on the lookout for that particular variant.

There's an awful lot of noise being spouted, be careful what you listen to.

"believe" being the operative word. People believe when there is no evidence. When there is evidence, belief is not required.

At your age, you are playing a dangerous game. You have zero evidence of immunity acquired from previous infections. If anything, previous infections are evidence that you are vulnerable to influenza infections. As humans age, immune systems become less effective, and the danger increases.
The results show that people naturally make anti-HA stem antibodies, but that responses vary significantly, and also these antibody levels are not independent predictors of whether someone becomes sick or if so, how severely. https://www.nih.gov/news-events/news-re ... l-immunity

I agree with ChicagoGranny.

A few years ago, one of the young dads at my church died of the flu. Heartbreaking. Take the flu seriously. It is not something to mess around with, especially with COVID also floating around.

When I was younger I did not get the flu vaccine. And I did not get the flu. I would be swimming in flu virus taking care of my sick family and not get sick with the flu myself. At age 60 I decided to go with the science that shows an aging immune system makes you more vulnerable. I've been getting vaccinated every year since then.

Speaking of vaccines, I am finally getting my second Shingrix today! 6 months late because of my awful memory. Unless, of course, I forget again.

Oh, now THAT isn't politically slanted at all, is it?

First link just points to the second link, and the third one has nothing to do with the allegation.

I wonder what Israel is doing about vaccinations, hmm: https://www.wsj.com/articles/in-israel- ... 1630426257

Since your politically motivated comment about SARS-COV-2 vaccinations threatens to take this thread completely off topic, I'll bring it back on topic.

There are hundreds of different strains of what is conventionally called 'the flu', and just like the common cold, having experienced one, and recovered from it means nothing at all when faced with another variant that will then infect you and make you sick and miserable, no matter what you "believe".

I have always been vaxxed a'la needle, except for my smallpox vaccine.
I have almost no scar, because the doctor who gave it was able to
administer the vaccine without tearing up my skin.
My dad was in the Army when I was a baby, and I was treated very well by
the medics at Ft. Robinson.
The bullfrog was vax-gunned in the USAF, and some poor guy in line passed out
at the wrong moment, getting a bloody slash across his arm in the process.
