AirSense 11 Algorithm
AirSense 11 Algorithm
Has anyone determined yet if the algorithm in the AirSense 11 is different than the one in the AirSense 10 or the S9 or is it the same. The AirSence 10 and the S9 use the same algorithm.

Re: AirSense 11 Algorithm
From their press release -
The algorithms are unchanged.ResMed’s proprietary therapy algorithms for AutoSet or APAP (auto-adjusting PAP) that delivers breath-by-breath therapy adjustments, the AutoSet for Her mode, a setting tailored to treat the female-specific characteristics of mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnea, and CPAP (continuous PAP).
Re: AirSense 11 Algorithm
So the AirSence 11 is nothing more than a cosmetic change and the heart of it stays the same, a touch screen to make it look good and a different shape. If that's it I'll stay with the 10.

I had the same feeling when the AS10 replaced the S9.

Re: AirSense 11 Algorithm
The press release doesn't say that, so its a bit of a leap to assume they are identical.
Real world performance data from a wide variety of users will be needed to confirm/deny differences.

Re: AirSense 11 Algorithm
It's a half step. For sure, they would have touted a "new, improved" algorithm had they changed it. Also, if they had changed it and still refer to it using previous terms, it would be criminal.billbolton wrote: ↑Mon Sep 27, 2021 5:02 pmThe press release doesn't say that, so its a bit of a leap to assume they are identical.
The worst possible method is to rely on subjective reports.billbolton wrote: ↑Mon Sep 27, 2021 5:02 pmReal world performance data from a wide variety of users will be needed to confirm/deny differences.

Re: AirSense 11 Algorithm
I think it has an upgraded modem and built-in Bluetooth to survive the upcoming demise of 3G.

The modems in my 10's are 4G.

Re: AirSense 11 Algorithm
3G is still around?
Imagine that!
Since I access the on-screen data, instead of accepting the
watered-down garbage from MyAir, I don't need it.

Why for sure?ChicagoGranny wrote: ↑Mon Sep 27, 2021 5:48 pmFor sure, they would have touted a "new, improved" algorithm had they changed it.
xPAP devices are subject to regulatory approval (pretty much everywhere they are sold) and the vendors of such devices are quite unlikely to ever make a puffy claim like that about therapeutic benefits. This not the general consumer-goods product domain!
I say again, that assuming the algorithm is identical is a big leap, given that Resmed by now had a access to a huge store of (deidentified) user data to tune the overall therapy approach and is almost certainly periodically updating aspects of the treatment algorithm as time passes.... particularly for edge cases.

Perhaps you've forgotten the introduction of the Resmed S9, with the new improved autoset algorithm?billbolton wrote: ↑Tue Sep 28, 2021 6:51 pmWhy for sure?ChicagoGranny wrote: ↑Mon Sep 27, 2021 5:48 pmFor sure, they would have touted a "new, improved" algorithm had they changed it.
