I’m looking for recommendations - should I just pull the trigger and get an Airsense 11? I think my supplier just got some in stock. I don’t know much about them - are they any good? Parts compatible with my DS1?

I’ve received nothing from Philips… not even a registration number. (I registered in early July in Canada).

Has anyone heard if you paid with VISA, would they through their extended warranty program provide reimbursement for the cost of my DS1?

Just looking for suggestions - getting frustrated not hearing anything.

Thanks!

Which parts do you mean? Masks and non-heated hoses are interchangeable.

Thanks!

Yes, sorry - masks and hoses I was thinking. So the heated hose doesn’t work?

Any idea if the Airsense 11 is a good machine? Worth the money?
My insurance paid for the DS1 but it was only 3 months old when I registered for the recall, so they won’t pay for a new one yet.

Thanks!

All masks and non heated hoses are pretty much universal in terms of compatibility with various other machines.
The exception being some of the ResMed travel machine masks.

Now heated hoses are going to be brand specific in terms of compatibility and often even between model lines within the same brand. Example would be the S9 ResMed model line and its heated hose....it won't work with the AirSense/AirCurve 10 model lines even though both are ResMed products.

A heated hose for the Respironics machine isn't going to work at all with a ResMed machine though. I am not sure it would even attach well enough to let it just be a non heated hose. Sometimes they just won't lock in or stay secure.

If you have a non heated Respironics hose...it will attach and function properly with a ResMed machine.

You need to understand the available models because the basic bare bones AirSense 11 CPAP machine isn't a full data machine. It only gathers and reports the most basic summary data numbers. No detailed graph data files at all.
But the Elite model and the AutoSet models of the AirSense 11 machines are full data. Both compatible with OSCAR.

ResMed makes excellent machines and I certainly have no reason to not recommend the AirSense 11 models with the exception of the CPAP base model and that's because of lack of data.

As for worth the money...all depends on how much, which model and final and most important factor....how bad does a person want it and are there any other options.

Thank you!!!

Having only used CPAP for 3 months, I’m definitely new to this.
I appreciate all of your information and I’ll have a chat with my supplier about this.

Thanks again!!!

Guess what brand machine I have used for years and years .....I forget how long but probably close to 10 years out of the 12 plus I have been on cpap has been with ResMed machine of some sort.....
They make an excellent machine. Rare lemons. I don't like their business practices but they do make good products and while I would love to boycott them because I think their business practices stink....I am smart enough not to cut off my nose to spite my face in this situation.

99.99 % of Respironics users who end up using a ResMed machine....love it.
Not everyone but the number I have known I can count on one hand who have used both and just prefer Respironics for whatever reason.

Good luck.

Be careful. Some DMEs are notorious for lying and speaking incompetently. If you go with the ResMed AirSense 11 AutoSet, before taking delivery, make sure it says AutoSet on the front.

Received an email on December 23rd that my unit has been shipped. When I got home from work, it was sitting on my front porch. This is after recently receiving an email saying it would take up to a year. So, the machines are moving. Good luck all!

I received my replacement device on December 29th. My claim was submitted on August 23rd. I got a shipping confirmation a couple of days prior, but no tracking number. It was shipped by FedEx.

I received a Dreamstation 1. I use a bipap machine, and I do not believe that the Dreamstation 2 offers a bipap version (please correct me if I am wrong). I got the machine only, and not the humidifier or anything else. Swapping out the modem and SD card was easy. I was kind of hoping for a Dreamstation 2, but at least this way I don't need to buy new filters.

I am still waiting for a new machine to replace my old PR System One. This is my backup and travel machine, so I am in no rush.

Just curious...

Any Canadians receive their updated device yet? Or, even an email or update from Philips?

I registered at the end of June/early July and have not recieved any communication from Philips at all. I double checked my recalled device on their recall site and it says my device was already registered.

Just wondering.

Thanks!

I registered my System one machine in June and received a confirmation email from Phillips in late August acknowledging my registration and advising of their plans to fix/replace all affected machines within a 12 month window. Since then I have received nothing. A family member who happens to be a RT implied to me not long ago that Health Canada was the one holding up the process here. Don't know how accurate that statement is but that wouldn't surprise me in the least.

I had a feeling Health Canada was somehow involved... I don't know for sure but I haven't heard of anyone in Canada getting their repaired/replaced device. Now granted, I don't know many Philips CPAP users, but reading through different chatrooms, it seems like USA and Australia are light years ahead of Canada.

Does anyone have an email address for inquiring about the status of our device? I've tried calling a few times but never got through. I'd be happy if someone could just just tell me my registration is fine, you just have to wait. I haven't received anything.

Thanks!

I bought my first Resmed Autoset out of pocket--
and I had a 9 month old S9 Elite--still perfectly usable, and paid for by insurance.
Looking back, I have never regretted spending a penny.
If you can swing a Resmed Autoset, even an Airsense 10, do it.
No sense letting bean counters decide how long or how well you live.

well, not to throw cold water on your theory, but it seems they still have until august this year to come through, no?

also i'm a u.s. resident. i registered same as you. got the same information.

have yet to receive a replacement machine.

people say i'm self absorbed.
but that's enough about them.

While the 12 month time frame was their "hope to" target....I wouldn't be taking it to the bank and counting on it as the gospel. 4 million machines worldwide....the logistics are enormous and I wouldn't be holding my breathing that it will be a done deal by 12 months.
