I'm sure your right. I should just look into fixing it on my own and forget about Phillips. Pretty sure I have a service manual somewhere. Probably no easy getting parts. I wonder if I can just remove the foam. I suppose I should just open the thing up and take a look at some point when I get time.

Check youtube. There are videos from amateurs describing foam removal.

Thanks, I'll certainly look into it. I'll want to make sure that removing the foam will not cause any problems with how the machine operates before doing so. Does anyone know what the purpose of the foam is? Is it just for reducing noise levels?

Just watched a video. Very simple for a person with my experience. Would be nice if they just sent me some new foam then I can be done with all the waiting.

Just called them up. Here in Brazil they're just collecting the CPAP units to destroy and giving a reimbursement.

Operator says they're no longer building CPAP machines, so they'll just give me the money to buy a new CPAP from a different brand.

So, since my machine was around 4-5 years old, I'm getting a new ResMed S10 for almost nothing. Just placed the order.

They confirmed they're picking up my Dreamstation tomorrow. The ResMed Airsense 10 has already arrived.

I found this video from CPAP Reviews where he reads and analyzes a 29-page FDA report about this recall: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=plC1aUPbcdw

It seems this is a bit more convoluted than it appears: they did a recall last year to change the foam to another kind, then the FDA found out that the new foam *also fails VOC tests*. That would explain why Philips decided to just take back my Dreamstation and reimburse me (I saw that other members of the forum that reported eariler received a replacement Dreamstation).

The concerning part is that the FDA report mentions that they already had the same foam degradation issues on ventilators *since 2015*...

Just wondering if any Canadians have updates?? I for one haven't heard a thing. I called and got my confirmation number a month ago, and they had all my details. But I have not received any emails from Philips. I registered July 07/2021 and haven't received a thing.

Thanks!

If you can afford it, why not just get a Resmed Airsense 10 autoset? They're better anyhow.

A lot of us are in the same boat. I do occasionally get an email or letter from Philips telling me they're working on the recall.

I received an email from Philips with an order number, says it was processed on 4/9/2022. Could that actually mean I’m getting close to receiving my replacement? Or just the next step in a long process?

I registered my DS1 06/20/2021. According to Philips' website my order was "processed" 08/03/2021 as of today I haven't received a replacement. Not sure if those dates mean anything though.

I'm part of the Canadian recall team.

1. I got my confirmation code from sedgwick last August. No updates since that time. The previous poster notes that the Philips website shows the items has been "processed". Where on earth is that portal? I'm only aware of: https://www.philips.com/c-w/corporate-h ... src-update

2. I think I will just get a ResMed. While I have access to a local CPAP store, can anyone provide any personal experiences with some of the online Canadian retailers? I'm unsure what model is best for me, but the Resmed Airsense 10 autoset seems popular. I use a fixed 11 on my system, so nothing fancy required, but a humidifier is preferred.

3. To pair with my DS I bought a Medistrom Pilot-12 Plus (the big one), and I don't want to spend big money again to get a 24v unit, but seems I have no options from other good CPAP brands? I understand Resmed is exclusively 24v?

Compatible with my unit are:

• Philips Respironics DreamStation 2

• Philips Respironics DreamStation

• Philips Respironics System One S60

• DeVilbiss IntelliPAP I and IntelliPAP II

• HDM Z1

thanks,
