So I recently talked to Philips recall team because people registered in mid to late July have started receiving their replacement CPAP machines, the DS2s. I called them because I registered on 6/19 and wanted to know why they're not going in the order received. The guy while nice, had a pretty much a Beavis and Butthead response "uh huh huh huh, uh huh huh huh," and told me to call back this week to see if they can figure out what's going on and see if they can expedite sending me a replacement machine. I'll be calling tomorrow to see if that's even possible.

I just registered my device today...that was a spot on the registration forum about using a device like So-Clean. Does that mean I'm skewered? I payed out-of pocket for my CPAP and would be quite upset if I have to eat that.

Unknown if you are screwed but nothing I have read at Respironics points to anyone being penalized if they used an ozone cleaner. I do imagine that ozone cleaner use or not might be something which might be used later though...like maybe advice later to patients and/or any sort of legal action against ozone device makers should it be proven that ozone cleaning significantly accelerated the foam deterioration. Repsironics would likely just love to point the finger at someone else in all this mess.

Now ResMed...they have already come out and clearly stated that using the ozone cleaners will void any warranty with their machines.

Respironics never stated that warning in the past. Instead they adopted a more wishy washy position. So they would have a hard time claiming it voided the warranty since they never told people it might.

Besides...while ozone is known to accelerate the deterioration..ozone isn't the only known cause.

Pugsy is right. In fact, Philips has already admitted their foam is unsuitable for CPAP use. If your machine has been recalled, Respironics will supply a replacement.

Thanks for the votes of confidence :D . I sure hope you guys are correct and it works out. I am fortunate to have an old machine I can use till this all gets sorted out.

Well, you should go after so-crap for them selling you a useless, expensive, harmful piece of junk.

so many people use So Cleans, and it's frustrating trying to educate them about why So Cleans and other ozone cleaners do to CPAP machines.

Socrap is sold based on fear.
more fear is probably the only thing that will sell them on not using it.

Seems like unless you can be visited by the DS2 fairy, you are screwed for a long while with any of their other bi-level or ventilator devices. I have two registered machines and haven't heard anything useful after being registered.

It seems the thread has already lost focus but my wife just received a Dreamstation 2 Advanced (auto) replacement for her current Dreamstation Auto. I registered two Dreamstations in August.

The instructions are to return the old dreamstation to Philips Respironics Returns in Mt. Pleasant, PA.

I received my DS2 replacement unit today. I registered within a week of them getting their registration website up. I had a DS1.

Here is my question: the return label asks for an RMA#. I can’t find anything in the papers that come in the box that has an RMA#. What are you guys using for it?

what part of the US are you in? I'm just curious.
Also as for RMA, I would ask your sleep specialist or durable medical equipment provider.

Questions and answers are the primary focus yes, but if we're at least on topic about the recall, that's at least a secondary focus and therefore still on topic.
