AirSense 10

Post by Erlolhiasn » Tue Aug 31, 2021 3:32 pm

Hi All - following everyone's advice with the DS issues, I've got an AirSense 10 and have fired it up before going to bed.
One thing I thought I should check - how to turn it off if I get up through the night!!
So, I've read the instructions and it says I can literally take the mask off and it will turn off (I'm not sure how it knows I've taken it off versus stopped breathing, but hey!).
It does go off after a few seconds, but not completely off - there is a very light breeze coming though (it's been off for a few minutes now).
Is that normal? Does it go completely off eventually?

The only way I can find to stop it is to turn it right off (I'll do that in the morning, but just in case I get up for the bathroom or whatever).

Looking forward to trying it and seeing if I notice any difference between it and the DS (I got the same mask, so we'll see)

Thanks all!

When you turn the machine off the motor continues to run for about 20 min. at a low speed to dry out the hose. The machine has a "smart start" setting that will automatically turn on the machine when you put on the mask and take a few breaths and will turn off the machine about 10 seconds after you remove the mask. This setting can be turned on or off in the settings area.

Might want to read the above manual

special attention to SmartStart feature and cool down period

For most people, that is a mistake. Unless the mask needs readjustment, it should be left on for a short restroom trip.

I actually just hit the button because the Smart Start feature is iffy in my experience. I decouple the short hose from the long hose and just get up and walk around looking like an 🐘.

Thanks everyone.
The dry out feature is quite cool then - pretty sure my DS didn't do that.

First impression is awesome - slept for solid 8 hours, felt really refreshed and there were green smiley faces on the sleep report thing.

I will read the manual properly and see if I can get into its reporting and compare if any different results to the DS. To be honest, the DS worked pretty well for me too, so I can't imagine it would be much better.

It did seem a bit 'different' though - hard to pinpoint how, particularly as I slept so well!

It didn't.
Just another bit of Resmed superiority.

If you're using EPR, it's probably because it feels more 'natural' to the majority of people here who've commented on it, verses the *flex pressure relief of the Philips machines.

I'm not sure but I thought the main goal of keeping the motor running for 20min was to cool the metal plate of the humidifier. It even shows an icon to indicate that the metal plate could still be too hot.
Machine: Airsense 10 Autoset (humidity 7, slimline hose) (5 years)
Mask: Resmed F30 (medium) (1 year)
Previous masks: Swift FX Nano (5 years); Dreamwear Nasal (few days); Swift FX pillow (few days)

You are incorrect.
1. the metal plate doesn't get all that hot...I have touched it...it isn't burning hot at all. You won't burn your fingers.
2. The cool down period thing has always been about drying out the hose/mask. Reducing leftover moisture in the hose or mask so less chance of yucky stuff growing in the moist environment.
