Froggy - "Being a general contractor for my health is work!"
---------------------------
Who knew that cancer becomes a (hopefully temporary) full-time job? :? But it sure does! That's what I found too. Hang in there; this too shall pass. :)

October 8, and my third and penultimate chemo session is over.
(I thought I'd never get the chance to use that twenty-dollar word.)
[[[How nice to be able to use it now.]]]
The doc says one more--and 6 weeks later, a PET SCAN.
If needed, a round of radiation; and done, he says.

Before leaving for my appointment, I had to apply lidocaine-prilocaine ointment
to the area of my port, then protect it with a square of "saran" wrap.
Before applying the protective sheet, I stuck a pair of googly eyes above the port.
Got a huge laugh out of the RN.
I told her she could save them in case anyone else needed a giggle . . .
Or a good belly laugh.
Their job has got to be grim at times.

So far, the chemo team has been pretty good at contolling the nastiest side effects.
A good thing, since I am in a non-weed state.
I still have trouble predicting which way my colon wants to go--er, not go.

I'm glad to hear the side effects haven't been nasty this round of chemo. Also, that you are nearing the finish line! :D

Well, maybe not nasty, but not fun either.
The diarrhea is stubborn, but even a half of an imodium totally freezes me up.
My buzz cut is growing more than falling out,
slowly spinning any headwear (and headgear) clockwise around my melon.
Nasty leaks last night.
I have to check my temp, weight and BP every morning. Mostly steady.
I have dropped about 3# since I started.
---About the weight of one good Larry the cable guy's BM.
Sorry to be fixated on poop, but it can be hard to ignore--and disastrous.

Counting down to my "last" infusion--if my froggy luck holds.
Today is Monday, Friday 10/22 is it--knock on wood!
I have been making headcovers for myself--digging into my fabric stash,
and refeshing my relationship with my Husqvarna.
Most of my hair is growing out-I really jumped the gun with the buzz cut.
Now I get the spinning hat syndrome that plagues new soldiers.
My cap, beanies, etc. all rotate clockwise.
They go about 12 degrees all night, but way faster in the daytime.
Lotion makes my scalp feel better, but going commando (up there) helps more.
I try not to look in the mirror--my head reminds me of a gigantic testicle.

Thanks to everyone.
This is the second time that cancer has entered my life--
both times caught in early stages.
It seems I inherited a bit of my mother's hypochondria--it has served me well.
