Have you ever even tried one of the FFM that are of the hybrid variety....like the ResMed AirFit F30 or F30i or Respironics Dreamwear FFM?
Early on, I tried the Dreamware hybrid and had trouble getting a good seal (Plus had high AHI), I haven't tried the Resmed hybrid.

Probably would have the same result with the ResMed version of the hybrid. I didn't know if that type of mask which does have a slightly different lower strap placement would maybe not alter the airway....I guess it still does if the AHI was still high.

How often do you have these allergy attacks? Have you had one since starting therapy?
What do you normally do to help relieve the symptoms when you have those attacks?

I am going to be honest...at this point I don't know of a full face mask that wouldn't alter your airway and end up causing a need for more pressure to deal with the apnea events. I will think on it a bit and see if I can come up with something...my last long shot was the hybrid and I don't see the ResMed being all that different from the DreamWear.
Unfortunately more pressure causes significant problems for you.....at this time anyway.
Not to mention the leak problems with full face masks...lets face it...more real estate needed to be kept sealed...not always an easy thing to do for some people.

If it were me in your shoes...I might step back and put the FFM search on the back burner for now and concentrate on what we could do in the event of an allergy attack that would let me use the nasal interface mask. It might not be a perfect solution with mouth breathing maybe happening but maybe happening and being a problem might be less of an issue than 20 or 30 apnea events with a full face mask might be. We have a "maybe" problem of unknown severity vs a known problem.

FWIW...I also thought I just had to have a FFM available for if I caught a cold or something and couldn't breathe through my nose...everyone told me I would die a thousand deaths if I didn't have a FFM...so I tried a lot of them.
I hated them...that lower strap caused me to have bad neck headaches and I always had a problem with leaks anyway.
I decided to just deal with the cold symptoms should it happen and what might happen if I couldn't breathe through my nose. I have had many colds in the 12 years I have been on cpap. And yes a bit of a challenge using nasal pillows and breathing through my nose at times but not once have I died a thousand deaths from not using a full face mask.
I still don't even own one. I deal with my nasal congestion as needed when needed and while not perfect...it isn't horrible either.

I didn't spend much time tying the hybrid since I had trouble getting a good seal. It may be worth a trial with the Resmed hybrid.

The allergies start about now until late September-ish (ragweed season). I throw the kitchen sink at the allergies...Allegra, nasal saline rinse, decongestant, Flonase, and Azelastine (as needed). I'm on allergy shots, too, but just in the beginning stages so they're not really helping yet.

Thanks for your advice!

By the way, how do I quote just a small section of a post (for a reply)?

i quote the whole thing, then go back and delete the bits i don't want. just be sure that the part that says "quote so 'n' so" is at the beginning and the /quote is at the end.

there is what is alledgedy an easier way to do this. chicago granny explained it once, but i never could get it to work. :(

I just highlight the portion I want to copy/quote and then hit the quote button...then I don't have to mess with editing out anything because I seem to always screw up the quote function buttons when I go editing stuff.

Like I can do this...just a snippet...no editing involved...open reply box...scroll to the post that has what I want to quote..highlight the portion I want and then click on the quote button on the forum editor....and the post magically appears in the reply box I opened

But I can do bigger chunks and edit the quoted part...When you see quotes obviously messed up...people have done that and they messed with characters at beginning or ending of the quote so then it's not showing up in a proper quote box.
Sometimes when I see that happen I try to go in and edit it (I can edit other peoples' posts being a moderator) and fix it for them...sometimes I am successful and sometimes not.

The idea with the short hose cozy is to prevent the warm air from the heated hose from cooling off once it leaves the long heated hose due to the ambient room temps being cooler. The short hose cozy helps slow down the cooling off of the air once it leaves the heated hose.

Pugsy: I bought a "Snuggle" that is long enough to go over both the long and short hoses. The Snuggle is a loose fit over the short hose. My concern is that the Snuggle could possibly migrate and cover the mask vent. Any suggestions on how to secure the Snuggle to the short tube so it doesn't cover the mask vent? Thanks, in advance, for any suggestions.

Small amount of tape and the end of the snuggle so it can't migrate closer to mask frame...rubber band...heck, I have used bread ties to anchor hose cozies that I have made as a DIY project...old socks.

Last night I used my Wellvue Ring for night time oxygen monitoring. My stats from last night are as follows:

Highest sp02 98%
average spo2 94%
lowest sp02 86%
<90% time: 1 minute, 28 seconds (the amount of time sp02 was below 90%)

Are these oxygen saturation statistics considered to be within normal limits? Thanks, in advance, for any help.

Hi everyone! I did a one night experiment. Despite aerophagia, I bumped EPAP to 7 with EPR of 3 ---CPAP mode. Though not perfect, flow limitations improved significantly with EPR of 3. Flow rate graph still looks abnormal to me.

Questions:

1. Flat line/dips at top of inspiration curve: What are these? Palatal prolapse? Flow limitations? How can I improve the curve?

2. Is the squiggly line at the "0", palatal prolapse or cardioballistic artifact?

I'm still learning, and appreciate your help. Thanks, in advance, for any help or suggestions.
