DEAR JESSIE.
Now that I'm on cpap therapy, I have to JUSTIFY MY LOVE! Please be happy and DON'T CRY FOR ME ARGENTINA! However, if you must EXPRESS YOURSELF, just OPEN YOUR HEART and read me a BEDTIME STORY. I hope I can stay awake tho, cpap has given me the FREEDOM to fall in to a DEEPER AND DEEPER sleep. When I wake up in the morning, I will be asking WHERE'S THE PARTY and I hope there will be no HANKY PANKY and EVERYBODY gets INTO THE GROOVE.

Oh the POWER OF GOODBYE.

Ok. I'll stop... BYE BYE BABY!

GONE!

I took ballet from Madonna's ballet teacher. He taught her when she was a kid, and drew her to the University of Michigan. Her 'hometown' while growing up is in Southeast Michigan.

All of that said, why in the world would WE be able to give information to someone hoping to make money by selling a book? Interesting, isn't it?

I am also a singer (for a hobby) and I agree that she has a good voice.

Madonna is a friend of Rosie O'Donnell's, both having lost their mothers as children. After meeting while making, "A League of their Own", Madonna and Rosie have apparently stayed in touch; and, Rosie is a CPAP user. I wonder if THAT is the link?

I realize that my exalted position is unique (well, it is shared by the 20 some others who were in the class). (One must also consider all of the students in classes with Madonna, and that said ballet master taught at the U of Michigan.)

Thus, I will be selling autographs should anyone wish to contact me via PM--NOT. (If you contact me about this, it will DEFINITELY tell me something about you!)

SAY! THAT could give one an idea for a mask decoration for our contest!! Heh, heh.

SE Michigan, Birdshell??? I thought Madonna was from Bay City? Remember the key to the city fiasco?

Slinky, you are partially correct.

I am not sure of the history, but--she lived at least a part of her school years in Rochester, MI--or at least, very nearby.

Certainly long enough to have become fast friends with her ballet teacher--he was an invitee (and attended) the Sean Penn wedding, and said that there were so many helicopters, no one heard the vows.

From a biography web site:

Name : Madonna Louise Veronica Ciccone
Profession : singer actress producer composer
Date of Birth : August 16 1958
Place of Birth : Rochester Michigan
Education : University of Michigan (majored in Dance; dropped out)
Adams High School in Rochester Michigan
West Junior High School

Madonna Louise Veronica Ciccone was the third of eight children born into a large Italian family in Michigan. Her father, Sylvio Ciccone, was a design engineer for General Motors, and her mother was Madonna Ciccone. She died when Madonna was six years old.

Madonna attended the University of Michigan on a dance scholarship for two years before heading to New York City to become a ballet dancer.

Well, you may Google your own bio for more information. Since the bio says her father was a design engineer for GM, the Rochester location makes sense. I know that her ballet instructor's dance studio was based in Rochester.

Rochester is roughly half-way between the former GM Headquarters city of Flint, and the few tech centers and plants sprinkled throughout the greater Detroit area. Bay City also has had a history of GM-related businesses, so I cannot speak to the Bay City link, but it is one that also makes a lot of sense.

Maybe Bay City should have stuck with the Bay City Rollers and forgotten about Madonna?

Karen,

Who is still NOT signing autographs via PM and who, inspired by Liam, is putting this sig line at the end of her posting.

I'm familiar w/Rochester. Had a wonderful friend of some 30+ years who lived on Van Dyke in Washinton just down/up from the Octagon House. I drove thru Rochester MANY times. Plus my sister had a lovely home in Rochester for several years when my brother in law was transferred down there from Saginaw.

Weather's getting better. Almost time to schedule that lunch date, gal!!! I'm leaving for almost a week the end of April for the Rolex at KY Horse Park. Maybe we can meet up before then.
