Here is a System one Foam removal Video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SQnJAF3bm98
I Have not removed the foam in mine but it looks easy enough. I don't see where the Foam is actually in the airflow Path in the video but it must be or why the need to recall. I found this info online
"The whole bottom of the clear plastic shell around the motor, is Open at the bottom (with a Skirt around the outside edge) That big opening has three little air-intakes (one-way-valves) that fit into three holes punched in the filter foam. Pre-filtered air comes in from in intake hole in the back of the unit via 2 small pre-filters. It flows over, around the large 'toxic' filter and down into the filter before entering the 3 intakes valves on the bottom of the clear shell. You should change those two little pre-filters if they are dirty, they are now your only filter"
Also if waiting on a replacement check the Philips patient portal as it was recently updated with a no prescription option for a Auto Cpap.
If you choose to remove your foam note that if the foam is degraded you will release a lot of the allegedly toxic particles by handling it. I took every part out and washed them in mild dishwashing liquid and then rinsed them off thoroughly before reassembling. This works for everything but the motor. I just blew air through that - best you can do. It is interesting to note that my foam fell apart in my hand, releasing tiny black particles. I never used a ozone cleaner. I think that foam degrades with age and the ozone just accelerates it. Philips is relying on the assumption that people replace their cpaps every 5 years when they defined the at risk category. Cpaps are expensive and mine worked just fine. Its probably at least 10 years old, maybe 15.

I purchased my System one Nov 2016 from Cpap.com so it's only 6 years 2 months old. I took it apart today and the Foam was completely intact and came right out in one piece. I could not see any degradation visually with it. The inside of the machine was very dusty and had a lot of white dust in air path, on the motor fins. A few years back the display screen became foggy and hard to read and had white dust on it. I believed this was from mineral deposits from the cool mist humidifier I was running with tap water a few years ago. I cleaned everything up and put it all back together. It does run noiser without the Foam inside but not that much. I use a sleep machine at night and doubt it will be noticed.

New on here, hello everyone.
Been waiting 1.5+ years for my replacement cpap from the recall. Mine was submitted via my doctors office.
NUMEROUS calls to Phillips to inquire about what the hold up is since they seem to have enough to go around if you want to BUY a brand new one.
I was told a month ago they needed my prescription so I conferenced in the doctor's office and they got the fax number and faxed it that day (I recieved confirmation).
3 days ago i got an e-mail from Phillips saying they were just needing my prescription to get it ready for shipping. ??????
The calls I've made to them have been absolutely terrible: excruciating hold times, can't understand the Indian dialect, they refuse to put me through to a supervisor, or me in hold repeatedly, hang up on me... the list goes on. I'm shocked there isn't a class action suit regarding this and feel like I need assistance from an attorney to get movement on my replacement. How many times will I be told they need my prescription? It just doesn't stop.
Doctors office said I'd be better off buying a new machine... even WITH insurance I'd be looking at hundreds of dollars. And why would I purchase when they're supposedly sending me a new one? And it was their defective equipment.
Can anyone direct me to assistance in getting movement? Steer me in the right direction?

Even more daunting is my husband also uses a cpap, been waiting just as long and has heard nothing about the status of his replacement.

Phillips Respironics released some information back in December 2022 but is now paying Facebook to share this to mass audiences. Pugsy, any chance this can be added to the front page of this discussion? tinyurl.com/4sbkkzes. They're saying the original foam in the DS1s were completely safe, though other agencies may come to different conclusions. I used a Tiny URL to shorten the link since it was a long one.

From the link https://www.usa.philips.com/healthcare/ ... src-update it states "90% of the production of replacement devices and repair kits globally has been completed"

That is really difficult to believe with so many here still waiting. Maybe what that means is that they have a warehouse full of repair kits that will take another 10 years to actually use.

I can edit my posts from the beginning but most people won't start at page number 1 out of 77 pages if they read this topic.

Other than making it a sticky again...that's about all I can do to keep it in front of people.

OR....you can make a post about it and we can make that a sticky and more chance of people seeing it.

Just checked with Philips and my old recalled System One now has an order number and projected shipping time of April of this year. Never added prioritization to this one so it's likely near the bottom of the list. Perhaps they are close to done. Note their system is still confused, got another alert asking for a prescription or selection of an APAP on default settings both of which they've been provided with weeks ago. Ignoring the alert given that I now have an order number for this machine. Curious to see what they send me for this machine.

Have tested by two new replacement DS1s and they both work well.

After selecting receive Apap with default settings a couple weeks ago for my recalled system one and the portal was updated 48 hours later to reflect that choice. I found last week that the patient portal reset once again to prescription required. I selected the default Apap again and now it reflects that again after 48 hours.

It looks like philips is working on replacing the Systems ones in the pipeline now.
A new DS2 replacement was delivered by FEDEX today for my Older system one 550P , It was showing expected shipment at the end of April 2 days ago. I didn't receive a email that it shipped. I did receive a email today that A replacement for The system one 560P is on the way and expected tomorrow.

Quick update since last Tuesday that further confirms the Philips systems are not well coordinated. On Wednesday, the day after an email stating that they still need my prescription that they had acknowledged and been given multiple times, a new Dreamstation 2 APAP showed up on my front step. On the same Tuesday, per my original post above, Philips had said to expect and April delivery for this unit when I looked it up after receiving the "need your prescription" message. This is the replacement for my old System One CPAP.

Glad I requested new DS1 replacement for my DS1 machines as the DS2 was definitely redesigned to take cost out of manufacturing with almost all the operations via a touch screen instead of the easier to use knob and buttons on the DS1 (especially in the dark at night). Filling the water chamber will definitely be much more cumbersome than on the DS1 as it requires almost as much effort as fully disassembling the DS1 APAP and humidifier components. Plan to test it out in a few days once I've programmed it to my prescription APAP configuration.

The good news is that those with older recalled System One units may be seeing their replacement machines earlier than expected.

I never used a DS1 but it looks like it was a much better built machine than the DS2 replacement I received for my system one. The DS2 has a cheap feel to it and the touch screen interface is very clunky to use. The package included a standard hose but i was happy to see my System one heated hose fits and works on the DS2. The humidifier tank is about on par with ease of use as my system one but I like my old system one better overall. My resmed autoset 10 however is by far the superior Machine and why it has over 21,000 hours on it compared to my system ones with under 2000 hours each.
I'm testing the DS2 out in Cpap mode using the Autotrial option to see how well it finds the optimal pressure settings I need.

Second DS2 arrived today and this one includes a heated hose. Looking at the boxes they each have different REF number and description with the most recent showing a heated tube included.

My husband received his new DS2 a while back (with heated hose). He had been using a DS1. (Still waiting on another DS2 to replace his DS1 backup.)

I have System One 60 (and System One 50 backup). Like others, I have been getting emails that they need my prescription because apparently it can't be uploaded. So set up an appointment with my sleep doc to get a new prescription just for this. Had to make the appointment way out, so it's not until March. I've continued to use the System One because I don't have a choice and there does not seem to be any evidence of a problem with mine.

Recently received another email saying instead of them needing a prescription, I now had another option where they could just send me the machine with the auto set wide open so I'd have to get a doctor to set it correctly. (Well, that's what they think; I know how to set it myself.)

Anyway, I hadn't gotten around to choosing the above option yet, but low and behold this past Saturday a new machine was delivered to replace my System One 60. Which is great since I was going to choose that option anyway, but I hadn't done it yet. I still have two backups that haven't been replaced--one for my husband and one for me--and just received two more emails with that same option, which I'm taking.

I have a System One 60 and they said it cannot be replaced or refurbished so offered me $50 for it.Seems like they are picking and choosing who to scam? In January 9, 2021 I let my wife use it one night cause she had Covid pneumonia and was hospitalized from Sunday to Wednesday the 13 and came out with an oxygen tank and a home oxygen concentrator that she only used for one week. Her resting oxygen level was 82 laying in bed. It was my back up cause I already had my Air sense 10 and had almost given it to my niece but gave her my old Resmed 9. Just going to keep waiting to see what happens or might just take that foam out later.
