Gramps and I recently received three checks in settlement of our lawsuit against a major insurance company. Our checks added up to $63.42. Our lawyers received $32 million for "attorney fees and litigation expenses". We didn't even know we were suing.

You were never notified that you were included as a member of the class and given an opportunity to exclude yourselves from said class? It's pretty typical you would be notified and given that option. People may toss it as junk mail but it still counts.

When the checks came, we had the FBI scan all our mail for five years back and subpoena the lawyers' records. No notification was ever sent.

Sounds more like a job for the postal inspectors but what do I know.

Good idea. We'll use the postal inspectors next time.

I registered my unit a year and half ago and still have not heard squat. My sleep doctor says the harm of not using the unit is far more serious than the possible side affects of the issue. What to do

Feh. You're rich. I just got a check for a class action suit that took 10 years. Settlement was $150M. I got a $0.10 check.

Someone earlier mentioned getting a filter that goes between your hose and your mask. I don't know if a little HEPA filter there will keep the bad stuff out, but it's got to be better than nothing.

I was notified in my e-mail recently with an option as to either receive a check or get a replacement machine. Call the replacement line (877-907-7508) and ask them what's up with your machine (be sure to have your serial number on hand and your confirmation number from your original registration). Shortly after talking to these people on the phone, I was sent to a survey that asked me questions about my medical conditions. Apparently, they are fulfilling machines based on how many and how severe your medical conditions are so that's another avenue to get your replacement moved up. I've seen some people respond by saying they were told there was something wrong with their original registration so it's always good to check with a human person on the other end of the line. Hope it helps!

Nice job Philips, shifting the problem over the insurance companies and individuals that bought theirs outright. I have a System One Series 60 and I paid over $2000 for my share after insurance paid part of it. No way I'm taking $50 for it so definitely will be having it fixed. It's a back up machine for me since I bought a used Resmed about 5 years ago. Guess I'll jump through the hoops. Did those people who had newer machines exchanged have to jump through the hoops also?
I just checked my status manually--so nice of them to notify us directly--and see that I'm in the same boat as you. I could have had a new machine via insurance months ago, had they then said it was unrepairable.

Checked my status of replacement today- it used to say that it wasn't matched to a DME and requested either I sync up with the dream mapper or have my Doctor fax my prescription -

I had my doctor fax my prescription -
and now the status says that my DME will receive my replacement machine and the DME will contact me when it is available -

very interesting . . . I wonder which DME they are sending the machine to. . .

This is interesting to me. Between hubby and myself we have three machines under recall and two of them are System Ones and we all know how PR is trying to wriggle out of replacing those machines by paying people a paltry $25-$50 for one of them.

I checked today. Our machines' statuses are as follows:

My Dreamstation Auto BiPAP: Matched to a DME. No information about which DME and no email or message about syncing up with Dream Mapper or having my sleep doc fax a prescription.

Hubby's System One Series 60 APAP. Not yet matched to a DME. Email about making the choice between the $50 or choosing to continue to wait for a replacement machine has come, and I've gone onto the Patient Portal and said he wants a new machine. And I've completed the "Prioritization Questionaire" for him. The email indicated that a current script will (eventually) need to be provided, but it didn't say when or how to forward the script.

My System One Series 50 Auto BiPAP: Not yet matched to a DME. Email about making the choice between the $25 or choosing to continue to wait for a replacement machine has come, and I've gone onto the Patient Portal and said I want a new machine. And I've completed the "Prioritization Questionaire". The email indicated that a current script will (eventually) need to be provided, but it didn't say when or how to forward the script.

And so we continue to wait and wait and wait. All the while continuing to use the dang machines because we don't want to go back to our "old" pre-xPAP normals.

Similar situation here. I haven't dealt with the DME I got the machine from in years and I don't know if PR is going to contact the same one or a new one. I did not get any notification but this is what I am seeing now:
US Patient Portal

Replacement device order information

Non-US Patients: Please contact your homecare provider for updates.

Update on your order

Thank you for providing your information. Your durable medical equipment provider will provide you with your replacement device as soon as they receive it from Philips.

What's next?
If you have not received your replacement yet, it’s possible that your DME hasn’t yet received the device from Philips. Please note, unless your DME has reached out to you, there is no further action required of you at this time.

We understand that waiting for news about when and how your device will be repaired or replaced can be frustrating and that timing is critical.

While we have already made progress in shipping replacement devices and have increased our production capacity, we anticipate the repair and replacement program in the US will take through the end of 2022 to complete for the majority of patients.

The DME that I and my husband purchased our machines from is long out of business. As in they were bought by somebody who was bought by somebody else who was bought by somebody else or went bankrupt (I have no idea of which.)

And after the second take-over by a company that I didn't like, we simply stopped using them and started buying what supplies we needed from drugstores (mainly filters) or on-line (mainly at CPAP.com). And quite frankly we just didn't replace a lot of the "replaceables" like mask cushions, headgear, and hoses until they were clearly worn out because we'd accumulated a pretty big stash back when we were newbies and before the first company was taken over.

So I have no idea what DME my Dreamstation BiPAP Auto has been "matched to" at this point.
