No, but seriously...

One reason I don't want to start my own thread is that I don't know what I don't know...BUT, I do know that there are much smarter people on here who could come up with a good topic full of questions that may help everyone else understand questions people may have? I don't even have a Philips machine but I'm concerned for my fellow CPAP users who have one of these Philips machines and the fears that have in its use (and the unknowns they don't know and what no one is saying).

Naturally, I'm a visual learner and data driven person. Data helps me understand things better.

Yes, you're correct - if I want to know something, I should start a thread and ask...but again, I don't know if I would do a topic of questions on the replacement machines the justice it deserves.

I have been thinking it needs to be replaced anyway because the original goals I had have been met for the most part.

They sent a DreamStation2 machine to my house last night. It's smaller than the old one.

The heated hose from the Dream Station 1 can be used with this machine. The filters and the water tank are different.

Here are the pluses (over the old one):
1) it's smaller and lighter than the old one.
2) It is even quieter than the old one, despite that they're now using a "safe" foam.
3) The "full" mark on the tank is much more prominent than in the old model
4) The hose attaches to the front of the machine as opposed to the back of the machine, as is the case with the Dream Station 1. This helps with hose reach, and also makes it less likely that I can drag the unit down by turning in my sleep.

Here are some minuses:
1) The water tank needs to be removed in two stages to fill or even to check water level.
2) There is no swivel on the hose connector (not an issue because the hose attaches to the front).
3) The touch screen - which is on top of the machine - seems to be less sensitive than it ought to be.
4) It does not appear to be compatible with OSCAR at this time. This is not a big issue for right now, as I know my best pressure.
5) It does not appear to have a pre-heat feature (at least I can't find one).
6) You cannot detach and leave the water tank behind. Not an issue for me, as I need it anyhow. That was also the case with the relic I was using in the interim period (F&P HC-233 circa 2005).

Well FEDEX just delivered a new Dreamstation2 which included the machine, tubing, Quick Start Guide, user manual, electrical stuff, carry bag, 1 disposable filter, 1 washable filter already inserted. There is a slot for a flash card, but there was no card included. Also included were instructions and packaging to return my 3 year old Dreamstation1 Auto. I will not be returning the DS1 since I own the machine and based upon advice.
FYI. I registered the DS1 on the first day the online registration was available. I also registered a System One which was also recalled.

There was no contact or heads up regarding the DS2 from either my sleep doctors (Mayo Clinic) or my DME (Apria), so I will be spending tomorrow on the phone with both. It appears they have been left out of the Phillips loop completely.

Because one verifies my continued use for Medicare and my supplemental insurance. The DME provides supplies, covered by Medicare. Their records are now not correct trgatdimg the equipment I have.

Just as long as you use it - you can print out the proof should the need arise. Print out the results and bring them to your next Dr appt. (that is what I do - it works) and don't stress yourself.

I take a flash card to my doc appt. They need a digital record. For regular supplies, I order online so a printout does not work .

Apparently my doc has a staff member who knows how to scan a document. Most docs I know don't deal with the SD cards cuz that means they also have to have the software so they rely on the DME for that. Docs don't program the cpaps either -that also is for the DME.

I believe IF you are using the equipment you will not have a problem.

But hey if you insist on dealing with Apria have fun.
