Wonder of wonders, miracle of miracles...

It was a pleasant surprise to have my replacement Dreamstation 2 auto with heated hose show up today. One year and two months to the day from when I first filled out the online paperwork. I followed their instructions as requested, except for the fact my original DME is no longer in business so I had to use the DreamMapper software to upload the machine settings.

There is hope that yours shall be showing up soon as well.

I got a replacement for my old Dreamstation yesterday (one of two, the other one still says "in process").

Does anybody else not like the Dreamstation 2 water reservoir? You have to first pull it off the machine and then you can remove the snap on lid. What a PITA. I add water every night.

For me the DS2 water reservoir isn't much different for refilling than my DS1 was. For both I take the reservoir to the bathroom where I keep a jug of distilled water to fill. The lid on the DS2 reservoir actually helps prevent water from sloshing out on the short trip.

Interestingly while the reservoir is a supply item that Medicare/insurance will pay for to replace at 6 month intervals (I think), it only covers the reservoir and not the lid. I found this out when I received a replacement reservoir and no lid from my DME. A spare lid isn't expensive from most sellers and it's a good idea to have a spare if one of the catch hooks should snap off.

I just called and spoke to one of the Phillips reps and she said it can take up to 30 days for them to process all the faxes and update that page. I told her they should state so on the Patient Portal and of course she had no answer. Told her I wasn't blaming her but that she should pass it up the chain but I'm sure nothing will come of it. Philips sure isn't handling this recall in a timely nor effective manner.
I got the same response after calling 10 days after the fax went out. I asked if she could confirm they received the fax. The answer was no.
Same response after 3 weeks post faxing.

Also, got tired of putting hours on my AirMini finally and bought a ResMed 11 from LSAT.

After 18 months I received the replacement DS2 today. Bluetooth setup was a PITA, but otherwise setup wasn't too bad. As others have commented, the water chamber design isn't as user friendly as the DS. Its a bit cumbersome to remove the top to refill. The water level mark on the isn't easy to see.

In the interim I've been using a Resmed Autosense 10 and it has been OK. It runs louder than the DS and DS2. I'm real curious how the DS2 performs compared to my original DS.

I just want to add my data points to the Great Wait for Replacement Machines.

Last email from PR was in mid-October. Since then, the patient portal info for my main machine, the PR DreamStation BiPAP Auto, continues to be stuck on "At this time, your registration has been matched to a DME."

The patient portal info for back-up machine, the PR System One (Series 50), as well as my husband's PR System One (Series 6) APAP, both continue to be stuck on "Action needed: Prescription Setting Needed for Remediation" even though we've contacted our doctors and all of the requested information was faxed to PR by our doctors close to a month ago.

With the help of Pugsy and my new sleep doc, I was able to make the decision to use insurance to buy a Resmed AirCurve 10 Vauto from a local DME. I've now been able to confirm they will set me up with an AirCurve 10 instead of a Luna III, and I have an appointment to pick up that machine on Dec. 8.

Hubby and I still need to figure out what to do about his aging System One Series 60 machine: It's 8 1/2 years old. But sadly back in 2013, when hubby was diagnosed with mild OSA on a sleep study that scored "hypopneas with arousal", the sleep doc basically referred him back to his PCP and his PCP left the choice of whether to try CPAP up to hubby. After dithering for months, he finally tried it and got hooked almost immediately. But for some reason that I cannot fathom, the PCP ordered a home sleep test last year. And in order to score a hypopnea, the home sleep test required a 4% O2 desat. But hubby doesn't typically have desats with his hypopneas and so the home sleep study came back with an AHI < 5. Hence hubby appears to be up the creek without a paddle in terms of getting a new APAP with our insurance paying its share.

Hubby's PCP was willing to write a script for a new mask this summer when his rather old, well used mask fell apart two or three days before we were set to fly to Europe for a 45 day adventure and the local DME demanded a script to allow us to purchase a whole new mask for him. So it's possible that hubby's PCP might be willing to write a script for a new machine that would allow us to purchase one out-of-pocket. If I can persuade hubby that buying it OOP would be a reasonable thing to do.

Today I got the TRACKING email that my replacement Phillips was shipped.

We are pleased to tell you that your Philips replacement device has shipped. As a reminder, your confirmation code is **************.

You can track your package(s) using the following FedEx tracking number(s): ************

Please visit Philips.com/src-update for more information and continued updates, including the latest answers to frequently asked questions (FAQs), or call 833-262-1871.

We appreciate your patience throughout this process.

Thank you.

THE FUNNY THING IS I NEVER ANSWERED ANY OF THEIR REQUESTS FOR DOCTOR INFO, SETTINGS, Dreamdata OR NOTHING. So, i thought they would cancel my replacement base don that.I was willing to take the loss on this as I switched to Resmed, early during the recall, fully out of pocket and moved on. I chose NOT to reply to them as I thought it was just them trying to get more of my personal info. I'm DONE with Phillips so I didn't want them having any more of my information just to get another one of their products that may or may not be developing another problem down the line.

Peace and health to all of you!

javier

That is exactly what I intend to do if I ever receive a replacement for my DreamStation BiPAP Auto.

Something new I noticed on the Philips status updates website-
for the units of mine that said Prescription Required- it changed the part where it said the doctor needs to fax the prescription plus the patient info to a Philips fax number-
now it says to call a phone number what you should be ready to give the doctor's name and phone number, plus the patient info that the doctor was supposed to fax to them.

When I called the phone number, there were lots of automated messages to push a number for certain options named- Then when i finally got the option that I thought would get me to speak to a person, it said that it recorded my phone number and I would receive a call within 48 hours.

Very interesting . . .

“clickbait”

“The incidence, prevalence or cause of an event cannot typically be determined from this reporting system alone due to under-reporting of events, inaccuracies in reports, lack of verification that the device caused the reported event and lack of information about details such as frequency of device use,” the agency wrote.

+1

I don't understand how the insulating foam can be killing people.

The increase in claims of death correlates with the increase in lawyers getting involved. Just google "philips recall lawyers" and look at all the adds for legal vultures.
