If by "no moving parts" you mean it doesn't have have the spring load/release the you may be wrong and you don't understand the role of the spring mechanism. Many SD Card extenders do have the these "moving parts". They help to ensure the SD Card is seated properly, and will not become accidentally unseated.

You're the guy who is making the claim that a significant concern is people don't want to break their SD CARD readers. Support you claim, reference these posts instead of telling other to find and read posts, they think don't exist.
I make a point of reading most topics I can on SD Card and extenders, and the primary motivation for most has nothing to do with a concern over damaging the reader, instead the interest has typically been to increase network range for those using the FlashAir WiFi SD Card. There is also renewed interest in extenders to allow the use of the recently discovered FYSETC WiFi SD card because it won't seat properly in the AirSense 10 SD Reader.
But go ahead, use it. Don't be surprised if you find that upon trying to load you're data you find no detail data, and given that you claim you only use it once a month, that means a potential loss of up to a month of detail data.
- The problem with extenders, especially the cheap ones like you seem to be considering:
- They're cheap, don't last
- They sometimes have trouble being clamped in the spring lock mechanism
- They sometimes don't seat properly
- The device may not support the ability to not when an SD Card is inserted or removed
- The door may crimp or stress the very thin lines
- Depending on the length of the extender, you can experience shielding problems
- Some of the lines may not be properly supported
- Sometimes the only way for devices to recognize the SD Card is by powering up the device
