Okay....last idea I had shot down.
It was a long shot hail mary anyway.
Something is likely wrong with either a sensor or writing any data to the SD card.
It's shutting off all on its own which is never good.

I am of the opinion that when I can't trust a machine I need to go find a machine that I can trust.

Have you had a thunderstorm power outage ? A few years ago, during the night a thunderstorm rolled through, power went out, once power was restored my Resmed cpap didn't work properly, stating unit was unplugged, when it wasn't, incorrect data etc....

I can't remember exactly, what got messed up during thunderstorm, as Pugsy states, possibly a sensor. Clinic replaced cpap.

Thunderstorms can cause electrical issues, with household units.

Thank you again! Taking your advice, I turned off SMARTSTART again last night, but unfortunately still had bad results. I'll be calling my insurance company and doctor today to get a new machine.

I *did* have a power outage during the Summer and in the wee hours of Christmas morning, both due to downed trees in high winds. Things were working fine as soon as electricity was restored, though. The machine didn't start misbehaving until 3Jan.

I'm calling my insurance company and doctor today to get a new machine.

The AirSense 10 is a great machine, but like anything, can go bad.

I had an adventure with my first unit. The initial symptom was smart start went wonky. OK, I could have turned that off, but I shouldn't have to.
The other issue is that I would wake up several times a night gasping for air. The DME did diagnostics with ResMed, and said no issue, but after a few nights we sent the unit for repair. (I have a Z2 Travel CPAP that I used in the meantime) It took quite some time to get the unit back, and the problem was still there. They sent the unit back again, and finally replaced it after determining some issue with a sensor. The new unit has worked flawlessly. Since then.

UGH! I feel bad you went through that. The "gasping for air" is horrible. I'm glad you finally have a good machine; I don't have a backup machine, though. :(
I'm expecting a callback from my doctor today. I hope she expedites a solution for me!

After a month of multiple frustrating calls with my medical equipment supplier, insurance, and doctor, I received word yesterday from my doctor's office that they were able to get early (it's not quite 5y) approval for a new CPAP setup that would be covered by my insurance. I'm calling my medical equipment supplier (not waiting for them to call me) today to find out when I can pick up the new equipment. Fingers crossed it's before the weekend!

I'll post back after I receive the new machine and a good night's sleep!

Three weeks after my insurance approved a new machine early, I finally received the latest ResMed AirSense 10 yesterday. The MES upgraded me to heated tubing and changed my mask to a DreamWave, as she thinks I make have burnt out the motor with humidity set at 7. I registered 8h17m of great sleep last night...what a relief!

For the same reason you can't blow your car engine by turning up the cabin heat, you can't turn out your CPAP motor by turning up the humidity.

Thank you. I thought it was BS; every interaction with that person has been BS.

  When I saw what she said my BS meter immediately went to max 10.
What a load of crap. They gotta blame the patient some how instead of just saying "we don't know, sometimes things just fail".

It is worse than BS.
It is part of a mindset that ASSumes that anything that goes wrong is the complainant's fault.
Popularly known as "gaslighting", it is a little known form of emotional abuse.
Beware, because it is an unfair and illogical argument.

Indeed, they fought me tooth and nail, claiming my failing machine meant nothing as I was out of my compliance period. BS, it's MY health! :x Thankfully, my company has a Healthcare Advocate service included in my benefits. They got me in touch with management at my insurance, who gave me the inside story of what to do to get approved for an early replacement. My doctor's office was skeptical, but followed through and I was approved without further ado. Of course, it took more than three weeks for my MES to fill the order. The few MES companies in my area all have terrible reviews, so going to another isn't a convenient option.

That said, I FINALLY have a new machine, and am getting 8+ hours of assisted sleep a night. I'm grateful for that!

I have the same exact problem. It started a couple of weeks ago. Use mask 8 hours and it reports about 4 hours. on/off stat maxed out at 10 every night. From the discussion here it sounds like the machine needs to be replaced.
