Very important to try not and overdo it after surgery. I had a complete rotator cuff tear repaired in August. Started therapy a bit too soon (two weeks) and tore it again. Had second surgery in October. Recovery is very slow and painful however I am hopeful I can get back on my bicycle in the Spring.

Sleeping in a recliner is important and try to avoid laying on your shoulder when you finally get back to sleeping in a bed. I did not need my CPAP while in the recliner but back to wearing it in bed. Three months now after second surgery and have full range of motion but cannot lift any weight yet.

I had a rotator cuff strain a couple of years ago; and I had PT.
It was almost entirely passive; which I anticipate for him--at first anyway.
Getting him to eat more protein is not always easy--he likes his pasta.

whole wheat pasta, if you can sneak it into him.

honestly, it's quite delicious.

eta: also, how is he at supplements?

psyllium husks are a good source for fiber and protein.

Psyllium husks have a side effect he totally does not need.
I made him a peaches and whey protein smoothie this morning.
A couple days ago I surprised him with French toast--soaked it really good--nice and custardy.

He takes care of me, too.

Getting him to eat more protein is not always easy--he likes his pasta.
Add collagen powder to his liquids, even coffee and tea, soup, cold drinks, etc. It's odorless and tasteless and completely dissolves. While it's not a "complete" protein, it has important amino acids and helps with healing. You can get big cans of Vital Proteins collagen powder at Whole Foods and Costco.

Between the sling and using the other hand to hold his coat shut,
it just occurred to him that he looks like a T-Rex.
We had to both laugh.

Little sidetrack--he had an ocular stroke, and most of the vision in his left eye went ka-flooey.
We got him into hyperbaric treatment 13 hours out, and already some improvement.
We had to drive 60 miles to the hospital, he's still "coming up to the surface" with
another "dive" later tonight, and more tomorrow.
Froggie sleeps alone tonight.
