FWIW, I still have never had a single issue: no "robots", no redirects, or failed to load.

The problem appears to be a DNS configuration error with whoever maintains the DNS for CPAPTalk.
The following link should work for everyone:
http://cpaptalk.com
Where the following link should fail for everyone:
http://www.cpaptalk.com
The DNS entry for
www.cpaptalk.com is configured as a canonical name pointing to: lrvjuuz.x.incapdns.net and 192.230.81.38, which fails.
Where as the DNS entry for cpaptalk.com is configured to point to:
192.230.74.38 and 192.230.66.38, both properly host cpaptalk forums.
Code: Select all
nslookup
> cpaptalk.com
Server: 192.168.1.1
Address: 192.168.1.1#53
Non-authoritative answer:
Name: cpaptalk.com
Address: 192.230.74.38
Name: cpaptalk.com
Address: 192.230.66.38
> www.cpaptalk.com
Server: 192.168.1.1
Address: 192.168.1.1#53
Non-authoritative answer:
www.cpaptalk.com canonical name = lrvjuuz.x.incapdns.net.
Name: lrvjuuz.x.incapdns.net
Address: 192.230.81.38
I'm guessing that when the web host moved from cloudfare to incapsula there were caching issues that accompany such moves, but also the incorrect (
www.cpaptalk.com) canonical entry was introduced.
The reason it's appeared intermittent is many of us take advantage of links, shortcuts, history entries. Some of which have the (www) host portion of the FQDN, and some don't. Whenever the
www.cpaptalk.com FQDN is now used it fails.
One can goto
http://lrvjuuz.x.incapdns.net to access cpaptalk.com, but when attempting to login the redirect error will present.
Some potential solutions is for IT to change the DNS CNAME record for
www.cpaptalk.com to point at cpaptalk.com, or point
www.cpaptalk.com at IPs 192.230.74.38 and 192.230.66.38
Our work-around is to ensure we don't prefix cpaptalk.com with www nor use old references that still might.

This was my old bookmarked link. It's worked now for several days for me and I just now tried it and it still works.
This was my initial link that I first experienced the redirect message with....but it works now for me anyway.
I haven't had the redirect message in quite a while but the damn robot is annoying as hell...and he had been gone until the redirect thing popped up.

it's the absolute randomness of this problem that annoys me.
had six days in a row where my old bookmarked link,
http://cpaptalk.com/CPAP-Sleep-Apnea-Forum.html, worked all the time. then seventh day, bam! back to the alternate of cpaptalk.com.
i'm beginning to think that the goodman's will never see any of our pleas for help and this will go on forever.
<sigh>

When I can't get in---I'm not here . . .
Obviously, my connection is working now;
But how can I tell anyone when it's not?
When I was locked/robotshit out--I was alone, with no way to contact anyone here.
Hopefully, they will soon have this garbage sorted out . . .

I KNOW! it's to the point when if someone hasn't been here for awhile, i just ASSUME it's because of the inability to log in.

Just for the record, I'm dead.

Using the new link works for me now in Chrome, but google searches from cpaptalk.com don't. I delayed them with an extension but they still wont open in chrome without copying and pasting them in a different browser. Has there been a solution to this, especially to see old links from forums from Chrome without cut and paste?

When I encounter a CPAPTalk link that doesn't work for me, I edit the Browser URL and remove the "
https://www." or the "www."
For me, it's the presence of the "www." in the URL, that causes the too many redirects error. Google search returns, seems to prefix the unwanted "www." in the URL
For example:
http://www.cpaptalk.com <- This link fails
http://cpaptalk.com <- This link works
Some people are having different results
