My husband makes me laugh because there is definitely some vaccine snobbery going on, he says by taking AZ he got the Ford Pinto.
AstraZeneca’s COVID-19 vaccine is 79% effective against symptomatic coronavirus infections and 100% effective in preventing hospitalization and severe disease, according to an interim analysis of its United States phase 3 trial, which included more than 32,000 people.

Nearly ~24 hours post Moderna booster, no side effects to report.
I have to thank you though, it's because of this thread that I knew to go to KK for a free donut <3
I guess you can get one every day you bring the card for the foreseeable future. I might go one more time though. Not trying to get the diabeetus.

Eating sweets will not cause diabetes, but if too much makes you lightheaded,
you probably should get tested, because you might already have it.
Apnea contributes to the onset of T2 diabetes, and many go undiagnosed for years.
I have diabetes T2, so I save my donut for the next meal, and enjoy it instead of a less tasty carb.

I'm doing okay on that front at the moment (my doctor tests it every 6 mos or so), but diabetes runs in my family and I'm at elevated risk for a variety of reasons. It's nice to know that getting this apnea treatment when I did may have prevented an earlier onset of it.

WOW! Had a similar experience here, but it was a hole in the outside wall that the landlord did for a plumbing fix, but never repaired. Once the rats found it, it was party time, and my food and electronics took the brunt of their fun. Traps and poison had little effect, AS did my cat. Ultrasonic device once the hole was sealed was the final needed solution.
But back on topic, got my 2nd shot today, so I'll be fully safe in 2 more weeks.
Congrats on your second shot!
I won't put out poison -- too dangerous for my dogs, as well as dangerous for wild predators like owls -- if they get a poisoned rat, they can die, too.
Can't do the ultrasonic gadget, since I keep pet rats for Barn Hunt training.
But Harper dealt with them nicely. (Sorry to hear about your electronics.)

We have lots of critters drop by for freebies, but no poison as well.
If one makes too much damage in the garden, we put out the Havahart trap.
The unlucky thief gets a long car ride--one way.
Banishment works as well as execution.

I'm in Toronto, Canada. I got my first shot in early March (Pfzier) because I'm a family caregiver in my mom's long term care home (they nominated me). The home had a bad Covid outbreak in Dec/Jan, my mom was lucky, she remained asymptomatic but they lost 25 people. She was fully vaccinated in February - Moderna as was my 94 yr old dad who lives in her former retirement home - they only live separately because of her Alzheimer's). Soon after that my foot clinic nominated me (because I'm a Type 2 diabetic although I'm well controlled with diet only my last hb1ac was 5.2 and I only see the foot doctor as a precaution). I thanked them but told them I already got it in early March.
My province (Ontario) decided to delay the 2nd dose for everyone outside of long term care & retirement homes because of uncertain supply. Canada doesn't manufacture vaccines, it was outsourced years ago so we've been reliant on other countries for vaccine which has slowed down our vaccinations. Most of our supply has come from Europe. Our supply and vaccinations are finally ramping up. I'm scheduled to have my 2nd dose in early July but there is talk about moving up the 2nd doses are our supply increases.
My husband opted to get AstroZeneca at a pharmacy it was the first vaccine he qualified for. My 34 yr old daughter & 36 year old son-in-law were able to get their first doses (Moderna) last week at a community vaccine clinic staffed by the local hospital & run by the city. Toronto is a hot spot and people living in certain postal codes are able to get vaccines if they are 18+. (Our government is talking about vaccinating 12-17 year old but haven't yet. They've put a big push to vaccinate as many as possible - right now about 50% have had 1 dose in my province. I look forward to everyone getting it including their second doses.

Luck to you all. I have friends in Toronto, and they've been incommunicado all year. Been worrying about them.

Banishment would have been my preference, but the wretches were too smart for the traps.

Funny, our trespassers were delightfully gullible.
The bait was more tempting than the stuff they had stolen.
And the trap was spanking clean, because they sniff around.
Worth it!

It's all good. Any dead rats were usually inside, and NO poison outside, as landlord has a 2 dog and a cat, and I have a cat, and there are other good animals around.
Sonic was last resort, and seems to have fixed things.
Easy enough to replace the few corded things they ruined, worse was the clothing they chewed into.
SO nice to not have to worry about THAT now, too many other things still left to deal with.
