OH! that's a good idea, too. i know that your tip about using the water pic on the p10 vent worked very well indeed.

Pressurized water is used in power washers for great effect.
Enough pressure can slice through almost anything.
I always wanted to fit a clear dome over the kitchen sink, like a sand blasting cabinet.
Washing dishes would be so dang satisfying.

Dreamstation owner here. Using distilled water and about every two weeks the the water tray goes in the dishwasher with the rest of the dishware. The wife places it open side down on the top rack with normal hot water setting. She uses 'Finish' dishwasher gel-pacs if it makes a difference. We have well water that is mineral and iron laden, but none seems to be deposited into the water tray after the dishwasher.
I did buy a spare water tray from Amazon so I have one to use if the other is in the dishwasher.

Wulfman! Good to see you. Thanks for the links from rested gal. She kept me going years ago. I had forgotten about the dental cleaner. Back then I didn't need to clean a tank so I didn't keep that in my memory bank. I will not forget it this time. The salt and alcohol works for now.

I had also considered the water pik but got lazy. Old age makes me lose momentum.

Thanks to everyone for the tips and good humor. I knew I could find what I needed here.

Grumpy, it's a good idea to make sure the heated dry cycle is not activated.
Some dishwashers can get hot enough to damage even the cleanable tanks.

Where we live distilled water costs 88 cents per gallon so that’s the only thing we use. Once a week we wash the tanks in regular water and dish soap. Tanks never develop any kind of film. Isn’t worth the cleaning hassle to use anything in the humidifier tank other than distilled water.

The only "hassle" is a soak with an acid solution (vinegar, or citric acid if you don't like the smell of vinegar), and a rinse.

Some people don't like carrying the distilled water up stairs, regardless of the cost.

Different folks, different strokes, but there *are* options.

I have been using a countertop distiller for several years.
It uses around 12-15 cents of electricity per gallon.
The bullfrog de-limes the distiller--what a sweetheart!
If/when it dies, we will build a distiller that works on an induction plate.

I can guarantee, you lugging around gallon jugs of distilled, storing and pouring is more of a hassle than my humidifier maintenance.

• I use tap water
• Every evening, empty, fill, swish and refill
• Wash every few weeks with hot water and dish soap
• In the 2 and a half years I've been using it, I've given it a lemon juice and water rinse maybe 4 or 5 times if I start to see a little mineral

Too many people commit to distilled water, without even trying their own tap water and seeing if mineral, or other issues are a problem.

There are indeed options. People have to decide for themselves what they want to do.
I hate the stink of vinegar...but I love pickles. Go figure that one.
But yesterday I used boiling vinegar to help me put life back into some old (and very expensive) paint brushes. My house smelled awful but my paint brushes now have new life and the stink is gone today.

I don't panic if I don't have distilled water but I do try to keep it on hand because I am on well water and the water is so hard it can almost stand up and smack you in the face. It's just part of living where I live. I don't have to carry a jug of it up the stairs...I don't have stairs but if I did I might look at things differently. I have used tap water for a while and I have used lemon juice to clean up the residue....it works and doesn't stink.

As for the slime thing....yeah I get that on occasion but it's rare and when I do I just use really hot soapy water and for me that takes care of it. ResMed AirSense/AirCurve water chambers are fairly easy to clean. I have not seen a DreamStation water chamber but in the past the Respironics water chambers did have more nooks and crannies to clean so I can see maybe those being a challenge.
And for the record....I don't clean the water chamber all that often...we all know that. I have a bad history of dropping them and getting to buy a new one when I do decide to wash the chamber so I don't mess with it very often. That's a factor in my option to use distilled water....means less chance or need for me to mess with it and maybe drop it.

I've been successfully using tap water, then using white vinegar and a brush to clean mine, but I just read old posts where people were using Denture Cleaning Tablets. That sounds even easier. Is anyone using them today? Does it work well?
