I think I've deleted most everything except this year and a few things from the how to thread, the way dog slobber posted through file attachments date. If you want me to delete this years virus memes also let me know. I can delete the oldest of those leaving only the most recent.

Just wait a bit on the memes images from this year.
I have a sneaking suspicion that when zonker cleans up his attachments section there will be quite a bit of space freed up.
I think he's been uploading from his computer every time he posts a gif and I just imagine he has lots and lots and lots of duplicates, triplicates, etc of each of his favorite gifs. We all know he has been rather...uh...prolific with his gifs.

You know when we want to post the same attachment we don't have to upload it again each time. We can point to it in the manage attachments section and save storage space.

Can you save a text file or url address to a notepad document and have it handy on your desktop? Do you know how to do that?

yes. in fact, that is what i've done with this list of instructions.

this will be something i'll want to practice on to be sure i have it right.

No, no....we haven't asked him to quit at all. Just change how he goes about doing them. He can do all he wants whenever he wants.
Just no more uploading from his computer each time he does them. There is a more space efficient way of doing things and I think he has it figured out.

no! they can't get rid of me THAT easily.

as pugsy says, i can (and WILL) continue to post my attachments as evidenced here. it's just that i need to learn a new way of doing it.

it's hard to explain, but now that the hat-tip image has been uploaded to the forum, i don't need to waste space on the forum uploading it again. now that it's here, i can "point" to it in other threads. it will show up in the new thread just as it does here.

so, i got a little zealous in clearing out my FOURTEEN PAGES of attachments yesterday. i had intended to leave some of my standbys intact for later use. but i ended up killing them off too. all save for vincent price clapping.

so, now in the previous post, i got my old standby hat-tip gif up. so please indulge me while i put up two more.
thaank you for your indulgence. now i have three attachments upon which to practice!

As you may have noticed, due to being very selective, I have only produced very few images.
I enjoy those that the rest of you put up, even the creepy ones.

Forum attachment quota problems

So, do I understand correctly that the basic problem is that we have somehow gone way over the limit of how many people can become attached to this forum?

I assume the problem is a forum quota not an individual quota?
