I have a setup similar to trailbear's that I use for car camping. I have a Z2 auto combined with an Anker 533 battery pack which has a USB-C PD port. I use a 15V usb-c trigger cord. The system is very difficult to start. Once the current is flowing the CPAP works fine but the whole system shuts down several times when I try to get it started. Either the battery shuts off because not enough current is being drawn or the Z2 shuts off because it doesn't detect the 15 volts fast enough or its a combination of both. I'm actually not sure what is going on but those are my guesses. Has anyone else had this problem and if so what did you do to fix it?

I'm a backpacker like trailbear and once I get the car camping setup to work I am going to get a smaller battery that I can get me at least one night of treatment. The anker 533 can supply 3 + nights at 14 cm but it weighs 10.2 lbs and is the size of a lunchbox. Its great for car camping, though.

litetrek, I have not seen that power cut out problem using some usb-c powerbanks like the A1376 Anker PowerCore+ 26800, Omni Mobile 25,600, NiteCore NB20000.

However I have seen a similar power cut out issue when trying to run the Breas Z2 from wall power using some of the Anker wall chargers, specifically: Anker 60W PowerPort Atom PD 2 and Anker PowerPort Atom iii 60w. I have been able to run the Z2 using the A2017 Anker PowerPort Atom PD1 30w.

As for your Anker 533 with the power cut out issue with usb-c to 15V, perhaps the Anker power management chips are having similar problems as the anker wall chargers?

Does the Anker 533 support a car 12V DC output port? If so, perhaps a workaround would be to use the 12V DC out instead of the usb-c output port ? I seem to remember someone using something like the "NextGadget 63W Car Charger with USB-C PD2 (45W)" to run their cpap. So something like:
anker 12V DC output -> car charger to usb-c pd 15V (NextGadget) -> usb-pd trigger cable to 15V DC -> to their CPAP ?

Sorry for bringing up an old thread. I'm looking to get a new lightweight cpap for wilderness camping. Also some lithium ion batteries and a solar panel. I was hoping you can post some insights on the new thread I started.

Trailbear, Thank you for some good information:

I will make short list of my equipment.

And I will highlight some serious problems, I have had with Breas Z1 and the endure batteries.


Travel Machine:[/u] Breas Z1 auto (Z1 is the name in the US I believe)

Power Bank:Zendure Super Tank 99.9 Wh (I bring two of them for 4 nights of sleep - they are sensitive to temperatures)

Mask: Philips Dreamwear fullface mask

Charger: Baseus GaN2 pro 100 w - 2 USB C & 2 USB A

Cable: Baseus multicable 100 w - usb C, usb lightning & micro + extra usb A to C cable

The frustrating part:
I was happy with my machine and the batteries on the forst vacation within the first half year.
But then the z1 auto machine started shutting down during the night, and the batteries started loosing
their capacity to quick charge.

At first the machine shut down 1-2 at night. I made a reclamation, and they said it was probably due to
the auto mode, so I switched to manual mode.

Well it did't work and I just had to return form my vacation because the machine it shutting down at random
up to 10 times a night. I wake up breathing in CO2, and I am not rested. Spoke I hade parts of my vacation ruined
and had to buy a new plane ticket. I think this could have been avoided if BREAS had done a proper
examination of my machine in the first place.

The other problems were with the batteries. They no longer quick charge. It takes them 12 hours to charge
around 40 % anf I have had them 1-1.5 years - and I only use them when ion vacation and once in a while on wet end trips.

So right now - my gear is NOT functioning. Also I am not satisfied with the service from neither of the companies.

I may try to purchase The Nitecore batteries - they are also lighter.
As for the auto z1 machine, I am going to send it back - I am keen to see if they will give me a new machine,
but I am not sure.

That sounds like a bad experience. Are you sure there's a problem with the Z1? It kind of sounds like you haven't tried a different battery yet. From what you said it sort of sounds like the main problem is the Zendure power banks.

Jas88, sorry to hear that you have been having problems.

I agree with RobK that it sounds like the zen desk power banks may be having problems. Perhaps try another power bank like Nitecore nb20000 or Anker 26800 power bank

I have also experienced random power cycling when running the z1 on a power bank. I know that the z1 is sensitive if the voltage goes below 15v. I wonder if the zen desk power bank is having problems putting out stable voltage power ?

Last year I upgraded from the z1 cpap to a z2 auto.

Thanks for the advise.
However I think it's the machine, because it also happened
when I ran it on a normal outlet in a hotel. No difference.

I talked to a service representative and he told me, there had been
modifications to some of the newer machines (my model is from 2020).
(Trailbear, I think my model is the same, but in Europe they just call it Z1
- to add a little confusion)

Anyway, the Zendure power banks have been failing me big in the charging
time - anywhere from 12-24 hours to charge them up with a 100 W Baseus charger
and corresponding cables. That is just too long - so I will still try another power bank.

I will try another power bank though, so I guess it will be The Nitecore NB 20.000,
the Anker 26.800 or the Omni mobile 25.600.

Any thoughts on which one has the most power?

I have read the posts with great interest.
I found the information very valuable and I am very grateful.
Based on the contributions, I bought:

-Breas Z1 auto
-Nitecore NB20000
-Cabel USB C Trigger 15V to 5,5x2,1

It works fine.

But there is a problem with the power supply:
Anker 725 USB-C , 65W 2-Port,
It shuts off when the Z1 auto starts

Which USB-C power adapter can you recommend? I would like to be able to operate the device directly from the power outlet.

I am having trouble getting my Z2 to turn on the airflow after booting up from the battery. I bought the Nitecore NB20000 and a USB-C adapter and the unit turned on immediately as normal. However, hitting the power button to turn on the airflow results in no airflow at all. I'm not sure what the problem is. It seems like the battery maybe isn't outputting enough current to start the airflow? I bought these components after reading these posts. I did buy the battery as a refurbished item directly from the Nitecore site with a 20% discount. I could have a defective battery. Do you guys have any ideas?

I had the same problem with a number of PD wall chargers. Some would drop power after a couple of hours and others would drop power once I turned on Z2 auto cpap for treatment.

The only PD wall charger model that I have found so far that provides constant power was this Anker model.

You could try to place a usb-c power meter between the nb20000 powerbank and the usb-c pd 15v trigger cable to verify that pd trigger cable is asking the nb20000 powerbank for the correct 15v voltage?

I think Amazon has one for about $12-$14 sold as "MakerHawk Type-C USB Meter Tester Power Meter"
