High Leak Rate?

Post by paultn » Tue Apr 07, 2020 6:44 am

Hello Everyone,

I believe I have finally settled on a mask. I chose the F&P Vitera which is very comfortable. I used it last night and thought I had a pretty good night with very few leaks.
However when looking at OSCAR data it seems to show otherwise?
Not sure what to do as I really like the mask.

Continue to use the mask as you really like it and that's not enough large leak to worry about.
It's much easier to fix leaks than find masks we like.
You barely went past the 24 L/min to get the flag and you weren't there very long. I would shrug my shoulders and move on.
Now if you spend an hour or two at 45 L/min or more....then we worry about fixing the leaks.

To put yours in perspective....here below is a night I had a while back. Now I was trying a brand new mask and was still in the process of figuring out strap tension....so not unexpected.

I agree with Pugsy, I sometimes open my mouth whilst sleeping which cases a large leak, anything less than 10% large I don’t worry about unless I find it wakes me up.

Over time its reduced and with the Bleep Nasal mask I know its not mask movement leaks which used to feature quite highly in my numbers as well.

Thanks for the advice.

I am going to order a Pad-a-Cheek and see if it helps. If nothing else it should get more comfortable.
Im just waiting for Karen to let me know about one for the Vitera as its not on her site yet.

Hi guys !

I didn't write for a long time.

Anyway, I also bought Vitera, and it finally came to my place yesterday, so I slept with it last night.

Was running fitting test, everything was fine, but the leaks Oscar's showing me are terrible.

I was using f30i, which I like, and never had any major leak in Oscar data , but I was feeling the leakage into my eyeballs, so I was sleeping with an eye mask, and I was frequently awakened by a farting sound just bellow my mouth on the lower part of the mask...

I spent this one night with Vitera and I felt zero things like that, I don't understand how those massive leaks didn't wake me up.

The reason why I got Vitera is this rollfit on the nosebridge, it's nice, and I read the reviews that it's sealing well with most faces.

I'm gonna make a DIY liner and see how it goes.

What can I do, or try to do ? :)

Thanks
