I received this from a friend and it does a pretty good job describing the past year.
T'was a week before Christmas, And all through the town,
People wore masks, That covered their frown.
The frown had begun Way back in the Spring,
When a global pandemic Changed everything.
They called it Corona, But unlike the beer,
It didn’t bring good times, It didn’t bring cheer.
Contagious and deadly, This virus spread fast,
Like a wildfire that starts When fueled by gas.
Airplanes were grounded, Travel was banned.
Borders were closed Across air, sea and land.
As the world entered lockdown To flatten the curve,
The economy halted, And folks lost their verve.
From March to July We rode the first wave,
People stayed home, They tried to behave.
When summer emerged The lockdown was lifted.
But away from caution, Many folks drifted.
Now it’s December And cases are spiking,
Wave two has arrived, Much to our disliking.
Front line workers, Doctors and nurses,
Try to save people, From riding in hearses.
This virus is awful, This COVID-19.
There isn’t a cure. But there is a vaccine.
It’s true that this year Has had sadness a plenty,
We’ll never forget The year 2020.
And just ‘round the corner - The holiday season,
But why be merry? Is there even one reason?
To decorate the house And put up the tree,
When no one will see it, No one but me.
But outside my window The snow gently falls,
And I think to myself, Let’s deck the halls!
So, I gather the ribbon, The garland and bows,
As I play those old carols, My happiness grows.
Christmas is not canceled And neither is hope.
If we lean on each other, I know we can cope

Our doctor will only be dispensing the Moderna vaccine.
The freezer required for the Pfizer vaccine costs 12 grand.

Your doctor does not require a 12 grand freezer unless he plans on storing the vaccines longer than 30 days.
Once a POU receives a thermal shipper with our vaccine, they have three options for storage:
- Ultra-low-temperature freezers, which are commercially available and can extend shelf life for up to six months.
- The Pfizer thermal shippers, in which doses will arrive, that can be used as temporary storage units by refilling with dry ice every five days for up to 30 days of storage.
- Refrigeration units that are commonly available in hospitals. The vaccine can be stored for five days at refrigerated 2-8°C conditions.
- After storage for up to 30 days in the Pfizer thermal shipper, vaccination centers can transfer the vials to 2-8°C storage conditions for an additional five days, for a total of up to 35 days. Once thawed and stored under 2-8°C conditions, the vials cannot be re-frozen or stored under frozen conditions.
- The various storage options at the POU allow for equitable access to the Pfizer vaccine to areas with differing infrastructure.

As DogSlobber notes, it's probably not the freezer requirement. It's more likely the minimum purchase order quantity. Moderna's minimum purchase order quantity is 100 doses. Pfizer's is 975 doses. 100 doses are easier to manage for all except the larger institutions.
Pfizer has said they are looking at ways to ship smaller quantities. As of today, there has been no announcement.

Dry ice--funny how the news guys are predicting cheese shortages due to dry ice supply.
Wonder how they made cheese before refrigeration--for a millennia or so . . .
Are there cheese "futures"?
Is cheese a commodity?
Could "somebody" be trying to start a cheese panic?
Not very patriotic.

as i understand it, this is correct. this is why those of us in rural areas will most likely get the moderna vaccine.

Part of my family lives in a rural area. The DIL says she is prepared to drive four-hour roundtrips to the nearest large hospital if necessary to get a vaccine quicker. We don't know if they will accept people who live that far away.

good question.
i really need to start googling this. we have a good sized "nearby" facility in Mt. Vernon. There is a bigger facility in Bellingham, a few minutes farther away.
i'm guessing that we have enough population density to have Mt. Vernon do the vaccines but i just don't know.

Search local TV and newspapers. A couple of months ago, the two major hospitals in my area were showing off the ultra-cold freezers they bought.
Hey, I did it myself. Skagit has freezers.
