my current hose for 5 years or so
I'd guess I'm on my fourth year with my current one, myself.

About a minute to a minute and a half in the dryer will soften those new hoses up.
I'm thinking maybe Pugsy wouldn't recommend that for heated hoses. :P

 I think I killed my previous ResMed AirSense 10 AutoSet using an Ozone Cleaner similar to the SoClean.
It developed the noisy pump symptoms (as mentioned by the ResMed warning) after just 9 months, having been "sanitized" weekly using a small Ozone cleaner by ResComf.
Luckily my CPAP machine was replaced for a new one free of charge by the good old NHS over here in the UK.
I have now binned the Ozone Cleaner obviously

( I still think that the ozone was killing any bacteria etc in the hose and machine as it is advertised to do, and is safe for the user, as any residual ozone disappears within minutes, well before using the machine again. However, the fact that it destroys your CPAP machine at the same time is a pretty good reason to not use it ).

For those without a blowtorch and an asbestos-based soft-bristled cleaning brush, I guess so. Just be sure to keep any running SoClean at least four feet away during blowtorch use if it is still under warranty. The blowtorch, I mean. SoClean can damage blowtorches.

SoClean has really grown recently. I would bet Resmed is looking at those dollars and wanting them. It's a power marketing move worthy of Microsoft. It's how I'd do it. ;-)
You're dreaming! ResMed wouldn't want the headaches of the warranty repair expenses cutting into their profits.
In case you can't read........Ozone is BAD for the machines because it DAMAGES them!
Only SoClean ozone - Resmed ozone is good for your xPAP.

What's the appropriate waiting time after this announcement for Resmed to come out with their own xPAP cleaning device, fully approved by Resmed and which will, of course, not void the warranty?
You jumped right to a conspiracy theory, didn't you?
You know it. ;-)

It is impossible for the public to believe anything that fails to include at least one or two good conspiracy theories, plausible or not.

And all these blasted SoClean detractors really have a way of sucking all the activated oxygen right out of a room.

It's a technique I got from an appliance repair person, when they were out replacing the door seal in my new freezer... the new seal was shipped folded up in a little box, and wouldn't fit at all. We tossed it into the dryer for a couple minutes, and it was soft and pliable, and all the kinks were gone.

So, I tried it on one of those horrible stiff new cpap hoses, gave it about a minute, and it was still full of kinks another 30 seconds and it had softened up. it happens fast, so keep eye on it.

I'm pretty sure I remember somebody doing it on a heated hose, I think they wrapped a washcloth around the ends to protect them.

You *think* it did something, but have zero evidence of that, you think it's safe, but have no evidence of that either.

THANKS a lot, I just wasted 20 minutes reading up on the effects of ozone on hydrocarbon combustion. hrmph.

. . . the effects of ozone on hydrocarbon combustion.
Over my head. But . . .
Oxidation with ozone evolves more heat and usually ignites at a lower temperature than oxidising with oxygen. Ozone reacts with non-saturated organic compounds to produce ozonides, which are unstable and may decompose with explosive violence. Ozone is an unstable gas that, at normal temperatures, decomposes to biatomic oxygen. At elevated temperatures and in presence of certain catalysts such as hydrogen, iron, copper and chromium, this decomposition may be explosive. - https://www.ozonetech.com/ozone-safety
Not sure if that applies to any upcoming ResMed-branded ozone.

SoClean promotes OCD--maybe even CAUSES IT!
(Or did nobody notice?)
In other words: "stay away from soclean--it will give you OCD,
a mental disorder that will ruin your life and drive away friends and family."

My opinion is to use it on disposals if you are worried about germs. Don't use it on the PAP's at all. I have a Respironics Dreamstation blower chamber the customer used ozone every day on, it turned the foam to a sticky tar like substance. Much like the person ordering a 1/4 pounder with cheese & a diet coke, there are customers who buy the ozone cleaners and bring their PAP's in because the filters are so dirty it effects the machines. Worried about germs in the actual PAP, keep the filters clean and keep water from back flushing into the machine. :D
