Ok, how's this for reading your mind?
Hey...you are dialed in on my husband's mind for sure. Every single day of winter I hear him whining about moving to some place like Hawaii or Tahiti or the Caribbean.

He hates winter.
Me...kinda depends on what we are seeing....typical woman...I change my mind easily and often.
I love the snow unless I have to go somewhere.
Smart man

The only time my wife and I enjoy snow is when we're skiing. So, visiting snow can be a lot fun, but we wouldn't wanna live there

Snow is only good for nature photography and winter sports.
Otherwise, it is unpleasant, dangerous, and expensive.
I am not fond of ice unless it is in my beverage.

Yep. So let's hope the rest of the listening/lurking congregation is soon up on their feet, out of their pews, clapping, and singing along.

Well, this isn't actually correct, the minimum pressure is what the machine mindlessly tries to attain all night long. It operates on the assumption that the minimum was set by someone with a brain, not some almost a quack, so it always wants to be at the minimum.
Breathing events cause an exception, which
temporarily raises pressure, but as soon as those clear up.... Back to minimum we go. If the minimum is too low... More events, more fractured sleep, more oxygen desats, more problems.
Minimum pressure is what it's all about.
Brilliantly stated.

My departed wife's eight year battle with cancer proved to me that we need to be our own well-informed advocate. Her oncologist was outstanding, and they had a great rapport. Nobody knows what's going on with you better than you though. Medical tests are not the magic people believe them to be; they are just data. Doctors, no matter how brilliant and caring, can't read your mind, and they can't be with you all day and every day. My current wife, a nurse, totally agrees, and her CPAP results with my help (and the Resmed I gave her after I switched to a Vauto) are far better than she achieved with the prescription settings.

Yes. My first settings just felt wrong, so I "hacked" into the machine and changed them. I called my Dr. just to check, and told him what I did. His response? "We LOVE it when our patients do that! Saves so much time!"
I've managed my own settings ever since. My only advise would be, don't make big changes. Small changes, and sleep test them, then adjust again if necessary. Been doing this for 21 years.
sometimes, fairly big changes are warranted, when first starting out.. but once you've pretty much got things dialed in, small changes, and work on averages...
And don't just change things, do it
because the data indicates a change should be made.

If I make (needed) changes, I tell my doctor at my yearly appointment.
He puts the new numbers in my file.
This is the doc that geeked out over Sleepyhead when I showed it to him.

My doc eventually told me that I probably knew more about this topic than most docs know, so he was ok with me working out my own pressures. Edit: spelling.
Also, as an actual agent of the State (See: "The Man"), I do not particularly like the State telling citizens what they can and cannot do inside of legal boundaries. If it's not illegal, then it's none of the State's business - and hell, even some things that are "illegal" are so preposterously ridiculous that I guffaw at them.
Lets all sincerely hope that that some numbskull politician doesn't ever get it in their head that the State should be in control of all sleep apnea treatment (You know, because they know best what everyone needs), whereby if you veer from the accepted course, into the cattle car and off to the Gulag you go. Hyperbole? Perhaps, perhaps not.

It is the rarest of double agents who admits publicly to being one.

Yeah. The food here is lousy and they just don't serve enough of it. Right. Don't need Yelp to help decipher that complaint.
We do get popcorn on a regular basis...
