I'm doing some de-cluttering and came upon this gizmo. I tried pretty much every anti-snoring device on the market before I discovered (duh) that I had sleep apnea and am now happily hooked up to a machine. This thing actually does kind of work. Before I toss it out, if anyone would like to try it, you can have it for the price of postage. It's clean, but can (and should) be boiled before using. You can google it for more information.

Actually, during the time I used it, my husband said it cut down the snoring significantly. This was before I knew I had sleep apnea, and I have no idea whether it had any effect on that. Just offering it up in case anyone had an interest in trying it.

I have one that I sometimes use for 15-minute after-lunch naps. The naps seem refreshing, so I believe the tongue retaining device helps. I set a timer for 15 minutes because I don't want to overnap and hit REM sleep stage where my apnea is most severe.

When taking these naps, I wedge myself in on the sofa so I can't roll onto my back.

I am wondering though, if it will be effective for me as my mouth drops open. I'd really like to stop taping my mouth.

It's not designed to be a mouth dam nor a device for preventing jaw drop.

That's what I figure - no harm in trying. Thanks for the info on the cheapies.
