I figure if i am prepared, then it likely won't happen. Doesn't matter what it is. I had surgery last month., It was supposed to be outpatient. I packed a bag with extra clothes, my kindle, and a few other things in case I had to stay longer. I just put it in the car, so if I needed it, somebody could go out and get it. Since I had it prepared, I didn't need it. Worked great.

sorta similar to me and how i approach estimates of how long something is going to take to complete. if i'm offered a time range of, say, four to six months, i ALWAYS think it's going to take that six months or longer.
my philosophy is, you can't disappoint a pessimist!

I do a lot of road trips, and I do something similar. Say I need to be to the show hall by 2pm. I will set the time at 1pm, and then backtrack any stops I will make. If it should take 40 minutes from town A to town B, I put an hour. This list tells me what time I need to get up for the day. As I travel, I can see whether I am ahead or behind. If I can add a stop or need to cancel a stop.
A couple years ago, my cat was filmed in a couple scenes of a Bissell vacuum cleaner infomercial. I live in Seatac, Washington, and the commercial was being filmed just south of Portland, Oregon. I needed to be there by 7:30am, and I couldn't drive down the night before due to my job. I had to get through multiple cities including Portland during rush hour. I believe I left my house at 3:15am and got there at 7:15am.
Thankfully, I got to spend the night down there, so I didn't have to drive back the same day.

Absolutely. It stresses me to be running behind. I always aim early so I have a reserve available. I try to pad all the times in case I forget that I need to get gas, or maybe the traffic is worse than normal. I have doctor appointments next week. I will plan to arrive in the parking lot half an hour early, and in the office 15 min early. I will have my kindle or my ipod touch to avoid boredom.
My cat has done 3 video jobs and 4 photo shoots. I was late only once, and that was actually my friend's fault on her cat's shoot day.It was the day after my cat's Bissell shoot. I stayed overnight so that I could help with her shoot. She didn't allow time for traffic, and both routes had accidents and backups. I was embarrassed as they were ready for the cat before we got there. I parked down the block and helped her haul in the stuff, and then reparked her van since there weren't any parking by the house we were shooting at. All of my shoot days, I was early. Once, I had a shoot in Portland. I had planned to get there 2 hours early, find the place, then go get some lunch. Due to construction, I missed a turn and ended up back on the freeway. Then the parking took me a whole hour of driving around. thankfully, I started off early, as I still managed to walk in 15 minutes before the time, though a bit more stressed than normal. Regulus was awesome and did his grand entrance. He rides in a stroller and stands up tall with his front feet on the front of the stroller, like a dog with his head out the window. Very impressive.

absolutely!! stressed AND embarrassed, even though i know that the person with whom i've made the appointment may not give a rat's behind. still, i picture them fuming and glancing at their watch.
this world we be a much better place if everyone else behaved as we do.
btw, without even playing that video, i KNOW it's not the cat's fault....

I would be mad at all the money spent that could have been spent on important things like shoes. Hmmm wonder if I can take the shoes with me.
I'd want to know if they are fireproof.

I was grateful that it least it wasn't MY day. That was my friend's second commercial job. I think it was my 3rd. I was early the day before, and I arrived before my agent for all of the Portland shoots. (She is located in Portland). I have done 3 shoots in the Seattle area (where I live) with another one coming up. And my cat has been requested back by the same studio once and possibly twice (not sure if the next one is the same as the last place I went). So the agent trusts me to go to places without her help.
The first one I went to, I had no idea how much I would be paid. I just really wanted to do it. I did not tell the agent that I lived in Seattle as I didn't want to get not picked if she thought I wouldn't travel or get there on time. I drove down the night before and stayed in a hotel. Got there an hour early and waited in the car until 20 minutes before. I was in, set up with my cat in a tent well before the agent arrived. We looked very professional. And the shoot went great. That helped us get repeat jobs.
The paypal ad isn't actually a photo. It had two photos that go back and forth. Regulus is only in the one. He swears he didn't break it. And I must admit it was broken before I got there. And very carefully arranged (and rearranged).

I'm sure he didn't. He's too much of a gentleman to ever do anything wrong.

What is a dual on CPAP?
I have heard of pistols and swords but...
A "dual" is also known as a "medi-medi"; i.e, someone who gets both Medicare and Medicaid. This is a term that is common in the industry. Sorry, I should have clarified more in my post above.

I just pulled the modem out of my machine when I got it. I refuse to let the provider spy on me.
When Medicare pays for my prescription, which costs over $1,000 a month, they don't check to see if I am using it. Same with my CPAP machine. It is none of their business.
It must be a while since you got a new machine, because it's not possible any more to "pull the modem out of the machine". But you CAN disable it by putting the modem in
"Airplane mode".
Medicare DOES require that you prove compliance within 90 days of receiving a new machine under Medicare. Medicare itself does not "check the data" but requires your physician to document that you meet the compliance criteria after a face to face meeting you may simply not remember if you are still using a machine that had an external modem. That means that SOMEONE (your DME or your doctor) viewed the data to make sure you met the compliance requirements. Now there are several ways that can be done: Over the air via modem, taking your data card to your doctor or DME who will print out the compliance data and verify it, or taking your machine to your DME or doctor who will view the compliance data on the machine. But while they may not check if you are using your $1000 month medication prescription (asking for refills kind of takes care of that), they DO check your compliance with CPAP.
In a way, Medicare DOES check to see if you are using your $1000 per month prescription. If you are renewing the prescription they have a pretty good idea that you are using it.
Thanks for the education. I got my Philips Respironics DreamStation in December 2017 and pulled the modem out then. You just open the side door and it pops right out.
