Well, the Dreamstation does have a removable modem
I didn't know that! Are they charging extra for it???
That, i do not know, but the modem (and wifi and bluetooth modules) plug in on the side opposite the filter.

A dumb question, I do not have a newer CPAP with a modem. My Wifi access is protected with a password.
If I don't provide a password it would seem the modem in a CPAP could not transmit any data or am I missing something?

The modems in these machines use a cellular data network like the smart phones use.
They don't use a local WiFi network like you might set up inside your house for your devices.
You have zero control over the network these machines use except if a person turns the machine to airplane mode to block transmission or disables the transmission by some other means.

As pugsy says, the machines don't use wifi... That would be a nightmare security hole. Imagine hackers changing your settings all night long.

I wonder if a tin foil hat placed over the CPAP would be effective at disabling the modem?

If you don't line the whole room with copper mesh/aluminum foil/metallic blocking paint.... YOU'RE JUST NOT TRYING HARD ENOUGH! (and you deserve to have your thoughts read by the gubmint/aliens)

Well spotted!
You think the preppers, when lying on their deathbed... are disappointed that they spent their entire lives preparing for something that never happened?

Scare tactics are extremely effective, and potentially very profitable.
The uneducated are especially vulnerable.
Think about Y2K.
Some people made a pile of money.
Many others wound up with egg on their faces.

I would be mad at all the money spent that could have been spent on important things like shoes. Hmmm wonder if I can take the shoes with me.

Sorry, I have another question regarding CPAP modems. Does the DME program the CPAP or modem where the data is sent, who receives the data? My old CPAP's do not have modems, trying to understand how this works.
My Insurance changed to a perpetual rental, thus my next CPAP will be out of pocket.

The manufacturer receives the data and determines who gets access to which parts. For instance, ResMed has mine.

Only after being properly mummified.
