Who are you replying to? the OP from last year, or the person just above you that has a Dreamstation machine, and they only make one humidifier tank for those.

I have a Resmed Air Sense 10 and have been using it for 18 months- fantastic. I have a problem with my water reservoir leaking but only occasional. I now place my machine in an inverted plastic tub cover to prevent it from damaging the nightstand. I only use distilled water in it. Is there any way to fix these or is the simple answer to order a new one? The fact that it only leaks occasionally is puzzling, a broken reservoir should leak every use.

You might be better off starting a new topic.

This topic is 4 years old and may or may not be relevant to your issue.

And no, it's likely that it can't be fixed. Order a new one, keep the leaky one as a spare. Then when you're insurance eligible for another replacement, order it, so you have two good tanks.

And it's not a given that it should leak every night. Perhaps there's a very fine airline crack or seal gap, that under minimal pressure stays closed, but under increased pressure opens enough for water to leak out.

The airsense 10 tanks have a very fine line between the fill line and the spill line--
Especially when one experiences a tremor.
(I say "experiences" as opposed to "suffers",
because minor annoyance is not suffering to me.)

The metal to plastic seal is broken. The tub must be replaced. Continued use risks damage to your heater plate. They are not too expensive. Avoid boiling them dry.

What is the general consensus for washing the humidifier trays? We lightly rinse my mothers ResMed Lumis 150 VPAP ST humidifier tray about once every week in soapy water, but sometimes it is every 2 weeks, along with the hoses and mask (mask gets a daily wipe though with ResMed mask wipes).

Is this too frequent / infrequent?

I have heard that these humidifier trays are dishwasher safe but the rubber seal in them worries me about putting them in the dishwasher.

Our manual said to use "mild detergent" but we have some soap at home called sunlight soap which has no perfumes etc. in it so we have been getting a cake of that, mixing it into a tub of water to make the water soapy and then swishing that around/in in the humidifier tray & tubing and then rinsing it out, perhaps we need to look at the vinegar or detergent option.

Is using soap putting her health or the device at risk per chance? I am unsure how dangerous it is to have soap in your lungs if it is indeed soap residue that we are getting as "film" on the water in the tank each morning after use.

Everyone here does their thing differently. For me, I use only distilled water and find I don't have to clean the chamber. The main reason is tap water leaves minerals that bacteria feed on so IMO even rinsing with tap water is leaving minerals behind. The minerals (and bacteria) are likely the reason your dishwasher looks so nasty. The bacteria is carried in the air and the bathroom is the worst place to leave a hose or other equip to dry.

I never leave my chamber open to air dry for those reasons. But I don't usu have to clean it and if I do I use peroxide or vinegar and rinse with distilled but think its futile to dry it since I will be putting more water in it.

Just make sure the label doesn't say distilled *with minerals added* as it does for water in the baby section.

I also think most of our problems come from when we "clean" our stuff.

I'm just leery of soap in general... for the tub I feel it's better to use simpler compounds that have less chance of hanging around, and don't contain smell agents or other stuff. Your soap is probably fine. I don't wash my tub unless I boil it dry... the vinegar eats away the minerals from the tap water... the brush does the rest... rinse many times since I'm using it full-strength. Soap is more for surfactants... I'm more about demineralization/sterilization.

Maybe my tap water is extra special good... I've had no problems... even used it as bong water (!) for many years, in many different locales... no big deal.

Did you clean your bong every week too? Then leave it to air dry? Does the bong qualify as a bilevel too?

The bong was only bi-curious! We'd let that thing fester for days, then dump it, refill it, and rip some more. Probably the high carbon content kept it sterile... activated charcoal, along with a very low pH induced by the ashes.
