Oddly enough, I am once again able to post at PT. I just posted thanks to Dr. Woods for his post.

It isn't deep. It's subtle. There is NO actual enforceable legal right for anyone to be able participate in any market of ideas on the Internet, since proprietors decide who may participate and what may be said based on personal policies at any given "location." Therefore there is no actual designated area for a free market of ideas with any inherent rights of any sort on the Internet, despite the theoretical ideal some may believe in.

Amen

If someone lets you in the door, speak the truth as best you can with as much clarity as possible to give people the opportunity to hear it. But then be willing to suffer the full consequences for having spoken up.
If you are going to talk shit, be ready to take shit.

I understand Dr. Woods just tried to PM you to say “you’re welcome” and thank you as well :)

I find this all a bit ironic as an academic librarian.

Many professors won't give me 1 class session to teach information literacy (or how to critically evaluate an article). And then we wonder why people grow up to believe anything with a "Dr." in front of their name, or miss the red flag of selling an "alternative" therapy.

Just sayin'....

Is it because those professors want the students to believe everything the professors say?

Actually, they need to make sure they have the time to cover the classic literature.
You KNOW you use Shakespeare every day, don't you?

Well, the thing is, many students may 'know what they are, but know not what they may be.'

That may be so, but that is used more than critical thinking these days, unless you are a troublemaker.

Touché. Shakespeare was a requirement to get into Troublemaking 101. :x
