I am not allowed to go to animal shelters....my husband says I already have one here at the house.
I have 3 outside kitties. I have pictures of 2 of them...Rocky and blackie....Walter is still elusive. He's truly feral and he and Rocky don't like each other. I can't get him to hold still long enough to grab a photo.
Rocky doing what he does best...sleeping in the damnedest places. Originally totally feral but now I can do just about anything to him except try to confine him...he needs to be neutered but while he lets me pet him that's the extent of it. He and Walter both need to be neutered so they will hopefully quit the screaming matches and fist fights that wake up up outside my bedroom window in the middle of the night.
and one of his favorites..curled up in a peach box I kept to pick tomatoes from my garden.
And Blackie...a neutered male someone dumped here. Nice kitty...sweet and was someone's house kitty at one time. I would love to bring him inside but I have one female kitty who is the bitch from hell cat that won't hear of it.
And Toby....loves me to death but totally neurotic as hell when it comes to thunder and any sort of loud noise...which includes the washing machine. Go figure that one. Storms last night...no one got much sleep.

Have I told you lately that I consider your life experience and insights to have made you particularly qualified for moderation in this forum?

This is my buddy Declan.
Declan is a rescue, I've had him about 7 years and the SPCA estimated he was 5 when I got him so he's about 12. But he won't tell me his true age.
I haven't told him he's adopted, not sure if I should or not. He thinks he's Irish.
Here he is with the socks he gave me for Christmas:

The other day, I saw someone actually trying to talk to their dog. When I got home, I told Dec, we laughed and laughed. He's a bit of a nut:

I think he has a thing for Sassy:

I don't blame him for having a thing for Sassy. She's gorgeous. I don't dare show Rocky her picture...he will go off on Walter for sure.
Funny thing is Rocky is about half the size of Walter but what he lacks in size he makes up for in attitude.
There's a reason for the name Rocky....as in Rocky Balboa...little fighter with big attitude.
Walter is just a grumpy old man...Jeff Dunham's Walter. He's always bitching about something.

Very vocal to me and will smell my hand but won't let me touch him yet. Been years now and we have come a long way but I still can't touch him....doesn't stop him from standing up and looking in the front door screaming "where's my food" though. At least he doesn't run away up to the barn now every time I open the door.
Rocky has snuck in the house a few times...doesn't last long because the bitch cat from hell kicks his ass and he runs to the front door screaming "let me outta here...that's one mean female"...

That would be Lily...the Bengal cat. Not big like most Bengals but it's probably a good thing. She's a bitch.

Tasha was terrified of thunder. Even a thunder shirt didn't help. During thunderstorms we would put on the loud clanking battle on lord of the rings or independence day on the TV and that would help.
Btw Lucy is beautiful. All of your animals are.

Nope. no dog.
I like dogs, have had a few. It would be nice to have a dog again, but dogs are to much more and commitment. Especially, living in a condo. Declan doesn't need walks and exercise 3 times a day.

Thank you pugsi...
Here are Nora and Minka. They loved and fought each other all the time. Nora would bite Minka's tail. Hurt and scared she turns around while Nora runs up to steal her food.

I grew up with Doxies and I think they're great house pups. They're not attack dogs, but they have a big bark for such little bodies and they are very loyal. They are my early warning system and I love them to bits. They are both long-haired English Cream, but from two different breeders, hence the vastly different colors. Indy has slight white dapple in his front feet. These are their long winter coats, we keep them more closely groomed in summer.
Remington:
Indiana (Indy for short, but I wanted to name him Winchester. I got overruled by wife)

Indeed a big kitty and beautiful to boot.
Realshelby...what kind of kitty? Do you know? Looks like a lot of Maine Coon might be in the blood lines.
Years ago I had a friend who had a solid black cat about that size...massive kitty...aptly named "Panther".
Sweet boy though.

Back in the mid 80's, our daughter had a large grey and white cat she named ashes. He would come into our bedroom every morning and stand on my chest and stare until I woke up. He would then meow once, very loudly and jump off the bed. His work was done, I was awake for the day.

I'm not a regular on the board, but I just wanted to post a tribute to my dog Frasier who passed away last year from mastic cell cancer. (Watch out for those small lumps under the skin...they can get big overnight...
Although I've had 15 dogs in my lifetime and also had to bid them all goodbye....this one...Frasier...was truly special to me. I was truly blessed to have had that once-in-a-lifetime bond that reached beyond any earthly limitations. Frasier was my fount of pure, unadulterated unconditional love, the wellspring of pure joy in my life. He was my protector on so many levels. I've not only lost my physical Frasier but when I go to sleep, or wake up without him, I've lost that daily assurance that my world, subject as it is to the slings and arrows of outrageous misfortune, can be easily righted with a loving embrace with my CrazyFrazey.
I know you're running free now and still chasing down those tennis balls, my boy..
My three little lambs, as in my avatar. Only my girl in back is still with me. At Easter, they sported bunny ears. St. Pats Day, shamrock deely-boppers, Halloween, bat ears, etc. etc. They always wore insulted faces too.

Rosie on the left, was our Malted-Yorkie (Maltese/Yorkshire mix). She was spoiled and knew very well *all* of her entitlements. She was the goodest girl and the best early warning system for visitors. She liked the company of cats more than dogs. She was 14 when she passed in her sleep just before Christmas last year.
The cat was (we guess) a bit less than a year old when he showed up one day and, after learning Rosie's doggy-door, adopted us. He's indoor/outdoor and comes and goes as he pleases, so we had him fixed. Officially named Watson, but answers only to "Boy-Boy". A hard-core love-bug, he demands attention, snores like a lumberjack and can be heard purring from the next room. We have a deal: He continues to keep the snakes and other vermin out of the yard and I continue feeding him gushy food and treats. Boy-Boy will be our last pet. When he's gone, that's it. No more pets. Not even a pet rock.
