Historically, cleaning everything in sight was never popular until people had SOAP TO SELL.
When people made their own soap, they used it (and water) sparingly.

Your supposed to clean it once a week at least. I
Have 2 hoses when one gets washed the other one goes on and vise virsa.

Cleaning
You should clean the device weekly as described. Refer to the mask user guide for detailed
instructions on cleaning your mask.
1. Wash the humidifier and air tubing in warm water using mild detergent.
2. Rinse the humidifier and air tubing thoroughly and allow to dry out of direct sunlight and/or heat.
3. Wipe the exterior of the device with a dry cloth.

Last time I washed my hose was never. I figure trapped moisture has a much bigger chance of growing stuff than a dry hose.

I definitely wouldn't bother washing the hose (or for that matter the mask) on short trips. More likely to pick up nasties cleaning the stuff in hotel showers, etc. At least at home most of the bugs are yours or your family's, which means you'll tend to be immune to them.
And yes, I probably rinse out my hose 2X per year, just by running tap water through it, and then letting it dry hooked up to my cpap.
