Still mystified why he isn’t prescribing a machine that can vary its pressure during the night. But at least this will take an SD card, which is good. Keep us posted.
  Remember those idiots I told you about? This doctor is one of them. This same doc also told the OP that he could get data off the System One model 250 in that showed him how many apnea events he was having and we all know that model machine only shows hours of use. He flat out lied but OP was willing to forgive and wait and he didn't have to the funds to go the self pay route and tell the doc to go to hell.
OP is lucky to get a machine that offers data at all.

I wasn't happy about the likelihood of getting the Pro either but at this stage of things....it's certainly far better than what he has and the Pro does offer some limited trial apap mode capabilities if we really need them.
Not everyone just has to have auto adjusting mode available to get good sleep and good therapy and even if we have to tweak things...we can do it in fixed mode if we have to but it just takes longer.

Back when I first started therapy there were a lot more fixed cpap only mode machines being prescribed. In some instances it took an act of God to get an apap capable machine. People were managing with fixed cpap...it can be done. It's not necessarily ideal but it can be done. Now they are more common but there was a time when apap was a rarity and people managed. It can be done.
Some docs still won't prescribed them as they don't understand apap mode and they don't want to learn.

Eh, who knows ...maybe in another five years, Pacific Sleep Disorders Center's physicians will discover the great qualities of APAP.
The good news is that they recently in the last month just hired some new blood to the team. So maybe...just maybe there's a said chance.

Thanks Zonker.

Now question: the DME said in order to switch the brick for the PRO, per Medicare & Medicaid I cannot have used the brick. Does this mean plugging in the machine or turning on the blower?

Don't plug the machine in.
Don't turn it on either.
Using the blower activates the run hours and makes it a used machine. I wouldn't even plug it in and risk accidentally turning it on.

I didn't turn the blower on luckily. Prior to asking, I did plug it in but only for ten minutes. Hopefully that doesn't bite me on the bottom.

As long as it didn't blow any air you will be okay.

So the DME gave me a machine that has three modes: CPAP, Pro and APAP.

The DMX500xxx is the DreamStation Auto CPAP machine.
Full data and all the available modes and not even limited modes.
This is a good machine for you.

It offers fixed cpap mode which is a single fixed pressure as well as auto adjusting pressures (apap mode).

You might want to go get the clinical/provider manual for it so you can understand all it will do for you.
You can request it here via email. https://www.apneaboard.com/adjust-cpap- ... tup-manual
Just request
Philips-Respironics DreamStation Auto CPAP
per the instructions that are about 2/3 down the page.

Thank you again Pugsy. I'll be setting up this beauty here in a little bit. Should I set the machine to Pro, first so that I can start recording my CPAP data for Oscar and then make a determination of what the APAP settings should be?

I think in your situation I would start with the settings that you have been using with your brick machine and then see what we might need to do.
That way no changes until things have been evaluated since we never could evaluate what you were using. Heck, it might have been just fine for all we know.
