Is it safe to use a combination of FFM + tape?
Sure, it's not really any different, in effect, than nasal/pillow+tape.

For the 3M Micropore, what's the best size? Place to buy?

Thanks.

You guys ever get "chipmunk cheeks" using tape? I do just about every time I try it. I have used a cervical collar successfully for awhile, but began to "overpower" it and breath through my mouth anyway. I've been using the F30 successfully, no leaks, etc., but wake up with the dreaded markings from the mask and straps like I've been assimilated into the Borg. Isn't nearly as comfortable as the P10 or the Bleep.

I got a 12 pack box of 1" tape on amazon for about $9.00.

I use Somnifix strips to tape. They are pricey, but I find them to be very comfortable at night, and they peel off painlessly in the morning. My skin is very sensitive, but the Somnifix strips are completely non-irritating. Sometimes I need to unseal in order to cough, and I find I can get a good reseal. I got a Reliance plug-in alarm that will sound when there’s no power to the circuit my machine is on. This gives me a little extra assurance that I won’t somehow wind up suffocating during a power outage.
I used these for quite a while as well. It's a *very* high quality product in every way. Even the sleeves they're individually packed in.

Ultimately, weren't strong enough to consistently get the job done for me. But I'd recommend them as something to try for sure.

Curious to know if you did anything with the breathing hole, Miss. I would place a small piece of micropore tape over it to plug it up.

I don’t breathe through the mesh slot if I take care to purse my lips fully before I put the strip on. The few times I didn’t purse enough I wound up breathing through the slot, getting it all wet, loosening the adhesive underneath it—ugh! So I purse carefully! Miss E.

You can get 3M micropore at the drugstore.

I reduced a few to a moist slimy goo myself.

I couldn't make the pursed lips work to cover the slot. Likely because I have a beard / moustache and had to place it too low.

And this is strange - your initial post is not visible to me in this thread anymore. It's like I pulled that quote from nowhere.

Do you guys tape across your lips with a strip horizontally or a strip vertically?

I go horizontally. But I have a short beard, so it's a necessity for me. I also have to add 3 support strips. Honestly, if vertical works for you - seems like that's the way to go. Less tape contacting the lips = less chance of pulling skin off when removing the tape. (<-- referring to the 3M micropore tape here)

I tried vertical taping, cutting a Somnifix strip in half. But I had too many wake-ups from air blowing out the sides of my mouth and switched to horizontal. Everyone is different, though, so it’d probably make sense to try vertical a few nights and see how it goes.

Funny about my disappearing post—I can see it.

I think I might have to try horizontal. I had some leakage last night that I remember. Is one 1 inch strip horizontally the normal procedure? What are the support strips like?
