Take your own advice. You are the one who is obsessed with your sleep or lack of.

Nah, I figure you're too tough and stringy, no roasting for you.

Anecdotally I have been taking Vitamin D and Calcium before I sleep, and it does seem to send me into a deeper sleep. I haven't felt this good in a long time! Since Calcium effects contractions, it may decrease apneiac events through tighter muscles. Of course anyone can try this and YMMV. I already knew I was low on vitamin D because of blood tests, my calcium was okay but I started taking it to help with Gerd. Note that this combo doesn't seem to work if I take magnesium at night, so I usually take my magnesium supplement in the morning. The Ironic thing is on these "good" nights where I feel great, alive and totally awake the next day my apniac events are actually higher (2-3 AHI) I can only surmise I'm getting into a deeper sleep and thus relaxing more and getting events. but since it's still "sort of" in therapeutic range and I feel so much better I'm going to keep at it. If it wasn't for the quality of life change I'd likely want to back off due to the higher apniac events.

Maximum muscle relaxation, including airway muscle relaxation, occurs in REM sleep which is not a deep sleep stage.

Sure, I actually misspoke. I keep thinking of the REM sleep as the "deepest" sleep due to the relaxation.

You might want to take the D in the morning, since vitamin d levels in the body are normally higher in daytime... (Sunlight production).

REM is a light, active sleep phase.

Update...
I have mentioned before that in my group of friends a few of us are using CPAP and a couple have tried CPAP and were unable to make it work. In a recent discussion the suggestion was made that we should be aware of what our D levels are.
I am throwing out ideas all the time but to my surprise the two that failed CPAP actually got their D levels checked.
They shared that they were at 12 and 15...

I do. day and night.
The point is that there may be a correlation between lowering D levels and sleep.
It's a hormone, it varies, like most all the others.
I seem to remember reading something in a journal somewhere that gave me that idea.
