aerophagia even at low pressures

Hello,

I'm new to this. Just got diagnosed in October with UARS and very mild sleep apnea. Regardless I've felt like crap the last 20 years. Insomnia and awful sleep quality. And more specifically the last year has been awful. Just seems to be getting worse. Beyond tired to where my body aches daily. So i was glad to finally have a doctor diagnose me with something that made sense. I started off with a regular cpap machine but it caused me to have centrals. They moved me to an asv and that has given me bad aerophagia from day 1. So much so I cant get through a whole night without ripping off my mask. My pressures are very low. Averaging at 8-9 but am still getting the aerophagia. My pressure support for some reason is set to min 0 and max 6. Do you think adjusting this could help? and if so, what should i adjust it to? I have tried everything (full face mask, taping, chin strap, elevating my head, GERD medicine) and nothing seems to help. Actually I do seem to get less aerophagia when I am sleeping on my back but i am a very active sleeper so thats very hard to control. And I still do get it on my back sometimes... I'm on month 3 of this and am desperate to start feeling better. Any help would be appreciated. Sleepyhead also doesn't support my machine (phillips AutoSV) so that doesn't offer much help there. Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forum.

First let's confirm exactly which machine you are using. If you are using the DreamStation AutoSV model DSX900xxx then you have chosen the wrong machine in your equipment profile and that model isn't available as a choice so you have to leave that part blank and just manually type in your model machine in the comments line.

The currently available SleepyHead 1.0xxx isn't compatible with the DreamStation ASV but there is a testing in trial version 1.1 that is compatible. I don't have that link handy but someone will be along with a link to it.
If all else fails there is Encore Pro but it's a big PITA to use and Windows only software.

If you are experiencing centrals then most likely the machine is kicking in PS for a few breaths to help you out since you aren't breathing...so probably your inhale pressure is quite a bit higher than the 6 or 8 you are seeing as an average.
I would need to see the detailed report to get a better idea what is going on.
You are kinda caught between a rock and a hard place...you need the PS to deal with the centrals but the higher PS feeds the aerophagia monster. There might be a few little tweaks you could maybe do to help reduce the belly issues but again we need to see what is going on first to even know where to maybe start.

thank you so much for the reply! I downloaded the software and took a screen shot of last night but i really don't know what im looking at. I actually kept my mask on last night which is really good for me but i started to get aerophagia toward the end of the night. Do you think it's because of a leak? or pressure increasing? or me swallowing air from the pressure? I feel like my graph looks pretty normal but i feel like major crap :(
