Same here, John
when are you going to start taking control of your therapy?
It prevents me from sleeping. Too claustrophobic with that strapped on and blowing air at me.
I can be asleep and put it on and I will wake right up as if an intruder came in through the window
with a knife. Tried to wear it prior to sleep and cannot fall asleep with it on. Have tried everynight
for 4.5-7.5 hours. Came here looking for help and am only insulted that I am not 'trying' hard enough.
3 months of not sleeping despite my last attempt that lasted 7.5 hours. It is becoming unreasonable
to think it will work now. Even the doctor that prescribed the machine said "I don't know what you want
from me, I wrote the script for the machine. He said there is no way I could sleep with that either and I wont
prescribe anti anxiety or sedatives for patients."
I came here for help and instead feel mocked - esp from LSAT and Zonker

you have been asked before to view this thread and follow the directions-

viewtopic/t172378/Sticky--Newbies-PLEAS ... STING.html

so far, you haven't done anything to help the people here help you.

i'm very sorry that you are feeling mocked. and as i'm part of that problem, i'll bow out.

hopefully, you will reach out and folks here can help you. but that's only going to happen if you want help.

i'm not really counting on it.

good luck!

If you truly want help, you need to keep posting in YOUR thread. Ask for help. Answer our questions. Post graphs.

Instead, you keep posting complaints in other people's threads. We can't help you here in somebody else's thread. I went back and checked your thread (which I have previously responded to, asking you to post info about your machine and settings). You have not posted ANY data. I can't even find a mention of what machine you have. no info about settings. I specifically asked you about your starting pressure as that is often the problem. You never answered.

If you want help, YOU need to participate and help us help you by answering our questions and making an effort. Don't just sit around and post complaints in everybody else's threads, and then accuse us of mocking you. We tried to help. You refused to let us.

Not true, Zonker. I did post the settings and machine- you don't read . " Settings 10/4 Resmed 10 Auto, Expiratory Pressure Relief changes from none to 1-3 . AHI 14.6" I have no Sleepyhead data to report as I have not yet fallen asleep in 3 months of nightly attempts to use it and thus cannot report this data.
As for 'complaints in other people's posts', I notice that difficulties that folks have using CPAP are seen as "complaints'. This is exactly the language and tone I was referring to earlier that is debasing to others seeking advice from successful CPAP users.

I am not Zonker. I am zoocrewphoto, the one you are replying to.

You posted: ramp for 45 min, I WAKE UP. Settings 10/4 Resmed 10,

That does NOT tell us what your real settings are. What the heck is 10/4?

Is that ramp starting at 4 and a straight pressure of 10? Is that a range of 4-10 with no ramp (yet you say you are using ramp).

Also, there are many versions of Resmed 10. We need to know which model. I asked you specifically in YOUR thread what your starting pressure was. And you have yet to fill in your equipment.

Now that we have ruined this other person's thread with YOUR issues, how about you post in YOUR thread what you want help with. Be specific, not vague. And post some graphs. We need to see what you are dealing with, not guess.

Back to wordbabe:
You might find the F20 FFM to be more comfortable than the F30. Thats the mask i started with and had very little trouble adapting to. It fully covers your nose and mouth and has that soft foam all the way around it. I dont know if the F20 would fit on the F30 frame or not. If so, you would only need to purchase a pillow to trial. Probably wont fit it, as that would be too easy on us, but worth it to at least ask :D

The F20 cushion will physically fit into the F30 frame, but it is doubtful if it would seal properly. The alignment of the straps will not allow the proper amount of pressure to be applied in order to seal against leaks.

It's been a while since I posted my initial question but I just wanted to update my situation.

I was FINALLY able to solve the SD card problem regarding the uploading of info to Sleepyhead. It was almost embarrassingly easy...I purchase an SD card reader on Amazon for $10.00 and now I can see all my stats!! Thank you to the person who suggested this!!

I am now attempting to attach my screenshot of a fairly typical night and ask about the normalcy of the number of apneas I seem to still be having plus the mask leakage which does not seem normal at all!

For the most part, your leakage is ok... and your AHI isn't too bad.. but it seems that it was mostly during a couple spots where there were issues... let's see a few more nights and see what they look like, say, over the weekend.

Thank you!

I will do just that. In the meantime, however, what happens is that I wake up in the middle of the night feeling air kind of exploding in my mouth and my mask makes these awful "farting" sounds. :( I have an appointment with the Medical supply company this afternoon and will be trying on some other masks to see if there is one that feels more comfortable than the one I'm currently using: Airfit 30.

What concerns me ultimately is that I've been faithfully using my CPAP for 3 months now but not feeling rested. It is for this reason that I am discouraged!

I have been on CPAP for approximately 9 months. I have tried 12 mask...every possible kind. I finally started using the ResMed N20 and taping my mouth shut and I am finally getting the hang of it. I originally tried two FFM and that for me was definitely a no go. They didn't only leak, they made horrible noise. I so wanted the pillows to work and I tried several kinds and they just would not stop leaking. They would work for a few weeks and then start leaking. The regular headgear with the small cushion seems to work for me. It takes a lot of patience and trial and error, which is the last think you want to hear when you are tired and don't feel great.

Hi Wordbabe. I'm new here (today) and new to cpap (2 weeks). Forgive me if I'm telling you something you already know. I started with a Sefam machine and I had exactly the problem you describe. I woke up several times a night to a hurricane blowing about my nose. I changed machine to a respironics one last week. I described the problem to the salesperson and she said I needed to alter my expiratory relief to the highest level. Then when you wake up to the hurricane and breathe out it stops. Immediately. So far its worked for me.
I've also tried three different masks. I had the parping leaks. I've tightened the straps a little and lo the leaks are totally gone. I've got an airfit f20, a wisp nasal mask and a respireo full face mask. With the wisp headgear you automatically get three different nasal masks sized small/med, large and xl. I played with them trying them out. I don't have a big nose. But I found that sleeping on my side meant the mask pushed up and against my nostrils just as you describe. This problem is solved when I use the extra large mask. I'm also a woman of a certain age and I definitely don't have an extra large nose. So I think your problem is the expiratory relief setting, a too loose mask and a slightly too small mask. Best of luck with it.

I forgot to say that with the fixes I'm not waking up at night anymore even when the level goes high. Try it an see!

Oh yes. And the sales people (one for Sefam and one for Phillips Respironics) both told me to use smaller masks. They measured my nose and declared me a medium. But its the bigger mask I like. Its all v different when you lie down and the mask is skewing sideways isn't it?!
