Thanks for the reassurance palerider. This Simplus mask that I am currently using has a large flap-type valve where it connects to the CPAP hose. When I woke up this morning, a couple of times I could actually feel it bouncing instead of just opening and closing. I would bet my bottom dollar that is what the "irregular breathing" is, just a flapping of that valve for a period of time.

That valve should never be open when your machine is on, the only time it should open is when the machine is off, so that you can breathe fresh air, and not suffocate. It's called an 'anti-asphyxiation' valve.
When the machine is on, it should be closed firmly, otherwise, it would create a huge leak.

I get the same type of thing when I turn EPR OFF. Once or twice a night, i see 30 minutes or so of this. No idea what it IS- but I've tested it 4 times and am convinced that in my case, this odd shaped breathing pattern only appears when I don't use EPR.
