They think "10 POUNDS PER SQUARE INCH!!! THAT'S A LOT!" ... and that's when it's advantageous to explain to them that it's 10 centimeters of water, or about 4 inches... and to stick a straw 4 inches into a glass of water, and blow bubbles... that's 10 cm of water pressure they've just 'exhaled' against.
It helps to reset their perceptions of the pressure.
Likening it to the mars probe debacle is nothing but a ludicrous distraction.
It helps no one.
