On the aerophagia- I've had it twice now with my low pressures after switching to nasal masks. Looked at my charts both times, pressure never went over 12 on either occasion.
Guess my point is that the aerophagia could have been totally unrelated to the pressure increase you made. Nothing but a coincidence.
true that. i'm quick to tell OTHER people it could be coincidence, then turn around and try to draw conclusions on too little data.
i put my lower pressure back down AND my humidity level back down. slept "better" but the cpap gremlins decided to punish me with a higher ahi!
but i'll ride that out. will let it go for a few more nights and i'm pretty sure things will calm down.

Raised the humidity and got the gremlins wet! Don't start feeding them now.
I still do it too. I made adjustment "A", it *must* have caused symptom "B". Not so fast, squidgy meatbag!

That really is the source of so many problems and frustrations.... Unknown variables...

yup, this would be SO much easier if we were just all androids!

there is either an unknown variable at play here or it's just taking a bit of time for my non-android body to calm back down.
lower ahi than the night before.
at least it's trending in the right direction.

Well, in all fairness.. you ARE a bit of a delicate flower... and don't take kindly to disruptions... (only being a little silly... it did take you quite a while to ease into the good nights you finally got to.)

oh i think you're spot on. obviously, it's taken me YEARS to get where others can in months or weeks. i find it frustrating at times. but not as badly as when i was brand new to all of this.
what this latest "branch" in my journey has taught me-
if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
it's one of the subtle, and sometimes NOT so subtle, lessons of this forum. it can be hard for me to do, even this far in. but i have to accept that it's trends, not one or two nights "disruption".
right now, i'm looking at an ahi that is a bit higher than i like or want. but i'm going to let things stand before i do anything about it. maybe my delicate flower body will slowly get back to where i want to be.

here i am, sitting in utopia for over a month now. while things are far from "normal", i'm elated to be back in the pacific northwest. i know that eventually we'll get the house done and can return to at least a less unusual lifestyle.
but i'm not typing this to talk about being happy to not be in arizona anymore. i'm writing to talk about my therapy and how the move has effected it. the most obvious thing to talk about is humidity.
when i first started using a cpap, i was here in the northwest. a bit further south, but still, right here in humidity land. so i had no real pressing need for added humidification. but i found i did need just the slightest touch. that and a heated hose and i was fairly content with my cpap as far as comfort goes.
then came the move from kent washington to flagstaff arizona. man, was that ever a jolt. while flagstaff doesn't have long stretches of low humidity, it has enough to mess with someone not used to it. would regularly see humidity as low as 10 overnight, then not really get much higher during the day.
even in the cooler months, humidity rarely got over forty percent. so i had to figure out how much humidity and room temp and heated hose temp and room humidity. it was quite the struggle to get things just so.
it should be no surprise that the same thing happened here, only in reverse. i'm still working on it. i've found that setting the machine to auto for humidity is working for me. and i'm starting to close in on what the tube temp should be. i'm taking my time and trying to stave off rain out, which i've had once so far in this transition.
my ahi has stayed nice and low, under 1.0 for the most part. i DID see ahi climbing due to some obstructives showing up. because of the small bed in this trailer, i seem to be prone to back sleeping more than usual. upping my minimum by just .2 seems to have helped deal with that.
my daily routine isn't as dialed in as it was in flagstaff. i'm continuing my daily walking. but i had put aside any of the other things like yoga and water aerobics. so just this last week i joined a health club. it has a pool and i'm getting back to pool exercising. there's a yoga studio not far from here and i'll eventually get to it.
my diet has slipped back to crap. only thing i'm continuing with any regularity is no coffee after noon.
but all of these things will be corrected and i'll get back on the road to good sleep. at least this is teaching me that all of the things i did WERE helping me sleep throughout the night.

Do you even need humidity turned on there? Mine is as low as it goes in Arizona. I would have to turn it off completely somewhere with more humidity.
I am glad you are enjoying your new home. I hope you are as happy there as I am to be back home in Arizona.

oh, jeez. this is why i don't often write these long manifestos; seems i always leave something out!
thanks for bringing it up. it was my first thought to not use the humidifier at all. that's one of the things that friend julie often recommends. and it makes sense in this land of water.
so i tried it. didn't work. i actually ended up with dry mouth! so i went back to a little humidity. futzed with that for a week then just gave up and put it on auto.
now, this brings up something else. i usually don't chime in when some newbie comes in asking about dry mouth other than suggest xylimelts. but i've had a bad case of dry mouth since i've gotten back to washington state.
can anyone take me down the road on this? as i say, i haven't paid much attention before because it didn't affect me.
any advice out there?

It sounds like no matter where you hide, Pugsy's aliens will indeed find you--and quickly.
