Most people don't realize it, but ResMed machines continue to run at a low speed for about 20 minutes after you turn them off. The purpose is to dry the hose.. Test it...After you turn off the machine, remove your mask and hold the hose up to your face to feel the air.
I've noticed that "cool-down"(?) low pressure air continuing to blow. That's what gave me the hair-dryer idea (to help speed it up when travelling). When travelling, I'm usually waking up and trying to get out the door as quick as I can manage.

Thanks,

You could speed up the drying by bypassing the cool down low pressure blowing and just let the machine blow at full pressure with mask off when traveling and short on time.
It would mean turning off SmartStart (if you use it) though.

Ahhh ha! Never crossed my mind - I'll have to experiment with that!

Couple thoughts:
  • Leave hose attached and let machine dry hose while you shower, get dressed, pack up.
  • Pack a spray bottle of white vinegar to kill the bugs. Spray hose with vinegar, rinse, then toss hose in baggy. When arrive, if still wet, hang hose to dry (re-spray with vinegar if still freaky re bugs) OR connect to machine & turn on to dry.
  • Turn down humidification while traveling so don't get condensation.
  • While traveling switch to standard hoses, buy a lot, if still wet when disconnect (see top bullet), toss it. Use clean, dry hose next night.

I have the Hurricane and love it. It is big for traveling. In the past I didn't bring it with me for just a few nights away, but have started making room for it. I have had many sinus infections, so I wash my stuff everyday, including the hose. I would think a blow dryer would work. It seems time consuming though.

If the final rinse is a splash of premium vodka, it evaporates very quickly--
Vodka also kills mold and microbes rather nicely.
It may even help mellow out that last mug of bean juice.
