Some of the posters seem to need more sleep so they get over being mean. Hope Linda doesn't let them drive her out.
See what you miss, by having good taste. What's private to one isn't necessarly private to all, but when we get to decide, we have the option to continue or stop. we all know where our personal limits are, and most of us know what's right. jim

Liam, still just two cents even after 41 years of inflation.

I hope it came across in my earlier post. Re-reading, it feels like I wasn't entirely clear when I was talking about the authors forum and when I was talking about here.
To make sure there are no even accidentally hurt feelings, I have nothing but the greatest admiration and praise for the moderators of CPAPTALK.com.
I'm pretty sure I said that, but as I say, better safe than sorry.
Liam, uncharacteristically serious.

Liam,
I read your earlier post and it was absolutely clear to me when you were speaking of the authors forum and when you were talking about this one.
And I do find your posts helpful. You either make me laugh or you make me think.
Thanks for bein' here.

In spite of the recent "too" incident that I was involved in, I think this forum is near perfect as is. I left a forum which was strictly monitored and many "technical" posts were deleted if they gave too much information.
Information is why we are here, and what I love about the forum. So I would have to vote "no" to policing.
I and others, (both pro and con), went overboard on the recent thread. Would I do it again? You betcha. That's what's great about this forum -- we all can express ourselves.
Did I get my feelings hurt and throw a "temper tantrum"? You betcha. And I'm sorry for that.
Thanks to all the people who sent me PMs asking me to reconsider leaving the forum. I'm back.
Now stop the friggin PMs, please. .........

Hi Linda,
Good to hear from you again! The lack of over the top moderation is one of the things I enjoy about this forum as well. There are so many threads going at the same time, we can self police by avoiding threads we aren't interested in or find objectionable. (Apart from killing spam)

As a general rule, I would be against any additional layers of policing on forum. There already exists various layers of policing already. Forum edicate, the members policing themselves, and the moderators themselves to name a few.
That having been said, I was disappointed is several threads posted recently. I found them to be divisive, off topic, and nothing more then a numbers game for the authors. I hoped the threads would die, but like a bad zombie movie, they continue to live.
I am not aware of any discipline from the moderators when things started to get out of hand. I'm not sure I should be unless they decided to lock the thread. I don't frequent forums or chat rooms enough to say.
To be clear, I find this forum to be a great place to learn and develop friendships. I find the people here friendly and willing to help with many diverse areas of our treatment. What we have to go through is hard enough. It's nice to be able to converse openly with people who can relate and understand what I am dealing with.
I need to get off my soapbox now. My son needs it back for the derby race.
Joe
