hi guys im new here and im 5 days in using a cpap machine sleepy study showed my ahi level at 39
i wake up a couple of times and i cant fall asleep during the first couple of hours of sleep do i take off the the nasal pillow or leave it on while i watch tv intill i feel sleepy again
its kinda weird i will go to sleep at 12am wake up 12:30 and then go to sleep at 1 then wake up at 230 and then get 1 or 2 more hrs of sleep waking up in between from 5am to 9am im fully asleeep
im going back to work this week what should i do as i might have sum shifts that start at 9am
When you wake up during the night, just leave the mask on, machine running... you have no way to know when you're going to drift off, and you risk going to sleep without the cpap, having a terrible night, and degrading your heath.
Don't turn it off... simple.

oh yea sorry to bother u guys again i just started my cpap therapy 5 days ago does anyone know how long it takes to start showing improvment in sleep
welcome aboard! each of us is different on this cpap journey. there have been those that have logged in here to let us know they took to it right away. others say it takes months. and of course, every little thing in between.
just keep at it and grow accustomed to having the mask on your face. before long, you won't notice and you'll start to feel better.
one more thing-when you have time, please use the control panel and fill out your equipment. it will then show up at the bottom of your posts, as it does on mine. that way, people will know at once what you are using and can tailor their advice for you.
good luck!

Model number...it's on the bottom or side of the blower
starts with DSX then has 3 digits and then a combination of digits and letters
DSX200xxx....DreamStation CPAP...no data
DSX400xxx....DreamStation Pro...full data
DSX500xxx....DreamStation Auto CPAP...full data
and there are other numbers higher than 500 but unlikely that you have one of those.

The 2nd appt is normally for titration - to find out what pressure settings you need, so unless you know it's NOT for that, but a 2nd 'test' (why?) to see if you even have apnea, then yes, definitely keep the appt.

I suspect the idea of starting cpap now and the titration study for later was just to get you used to using the machine so you can actually get decent sleep (better sleep study) during the titration part. Often people just don't sleep good during the titration part because everything is so new.
If you are fairly comfortable with mask and machine there's no reason to put off the titration study unless you just want to.
Where are you located?
