What DMEs are doing regarding Medicare's new 'guideline' varies but in general, they are not replacing based on the machine being 5 years old, but if the machine has 15,000 hours, they are calling it worn out. So, you don't necessarily have to wait until it's busted, but if you are like me and only sleep 6 hours a night, it's going to be at least 6 years before Medicare replaces it (and I'm fine with that). I kid you not but some DMEs have replaced machines that only have a couple of thousand hours on them for the latest and greatest. Makes them money not to wait.
