My grandmother had cataract surgery back when it was common practice to immobilize the patient for several days after surgery. She died due to multiple organ failure--at 70. My mother put off having her eyes done for 20 years, out of fear. Her boyfriend talked her into eventually doing it. Her lenses were designed to correct her extreme myopia, and she was amazed at how well she could finally see. Currently, cataract surgery is an outpatient procedure, with minimal trauma. (Less than most dental work)

Hubby recently had both eyes done - one at a time. A little annoying for a few days after but in reality, a piece of cake. Now he no longer needs glasses, except for reading very fine print. My turn is coming up soon.

Diagnosed with cataract in both eyes in 2004. Been using CAN-C eye drops since about 6 months later (time for research). 2 drops each eye for a month, then (and still) using 1 drop each eye. Saw 95% of symptoms disappear by 3 weeks. DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH. I consider myself lucky to have found an alternative to surgery.
