Is the heated hose plugged in when you try to access this setting and turn on heated tube humidification?
Are there any of those little padlocks showing up anywhere in your setup menu making it so you can't access something.

And FWIW...I would also have doubts about the sensors if Auto On didn't work better and I would also doubt the other stuff.
That's why I mentioned it maybe having a problem with sensors.
It might just be your breathing is shallow and it might be that there is a problem with the sensor...I don't like "might be" myself when it makes me wonder about the other stuff too.

I don't have my Respironics machine at the house (it's out on loan) so I can't go into the setup menu and see what might be padlocked but the heated hose has to be attached and recognized by the machine and the patient has to have the ability (unlocked) to make changes before any changes can be made. So if patient changes are locked in another area of the menu it might affect the ability to change the humidification type assuming the hose is attached and it still won't let you access that menu.

I had all kinds of frustrations when I 1st started CPAP almost 3 years ago; from a doctor who didn't seem to know anything about my machine to a supplier on the other side of the country who was only interested in sending more "stuff" that they could charge to Medicare. Then at Pugsy's suggestion (& my doctor's great surprise) I changed my pressure setting to variable (10-20) & things pretty much fell into place & ran smoothly . . . until I had a rainout last fall. That had never happened before. Even though I didn't have a heated tube, I discovered that my original paperwork said that I should. From what I had read here, I assumed that heated would be a "better" tube, but I had one hell of a time getting one. Long story, but I finally (after 71 days) got my supplier changed to local & got the tube & new transformer(?). Original supplier (after about 6 weeks) had sent a correct tube, but insisted that it would fit on my (non-heated) humidifier. Of course, there were no connections on my existing humidifier.

Maybe it was psychological, but there seemed to be an improvement (altho' those couple of rainouts were really only annoyances). Then I again basically put all things CPAP out of my head, until bedtime each night. My cat turned off my CPCP during the night last week. That prompted my returning here for the 1st time in ages. Now I feel like I'm getting sucked down the CPAP hole (again). Each answer leads me to another question. But please keep those comments coming.

Thanks for being here & letting me cry on my pitty-potty to get that off my chest. It seems at that the whole medical community is only interested in $$$.

Yes, I have those little padlocks in my setup menu . . . "Heating Tube Humidification (lock) OFF" and "Tubing Type (lock) OFF". Hopefully, there's a way to remove them. FWIW, I also noticed that the humidifier light on the top of my machine is yellow when I turn it on at night and blue when I turn it off in the morning.
