Well I live in the city but in a sort of "rural" part of the city not far from a wild canyon and I regularly get skunks, opossums and raccoons. Also great horned owls, hawks and lots of other birds but no turkies (yet).

Happy birthday and anniversary!

I have a turkey story too. I was driving along the interstate one day and saw 5 wild turkeys walking along the edge of the road, pecking at what was on the ground as they walked.

I pulled up behind them, turned on the flashers, and tried to protect them from oncoming cars. The turkeys paid no attention to me. I finally got out and tried to make them fly away, but they would not do it. I must have spent a half hour fooling with them before I gave up and left them to their own devices. They sure are beautiful birds. I never saw turkey remains on the road, so I guess they knew what they were doing. I was surprised at how tame they were.

We have a great blue heron that lives around here and visits our yard frequently. Now that is a big bird.

Living in the country has lots of treats. We used to be able to see meteor showers at times, but we have a new neighbor who is scared of the dark and has lights all around so it never gets dark here now.

They are lucky they ran into you, if I had found them like that four would have been walking, and one would be headed to the oven. I'm why you don't see any dead on the road.

Sorry to be a day late. We are looking for that snow (and some ice) today.

It's great to be able to live the country life, isn't it? We hope to go back home and do the same when I retire. DH is already retired and we still have the land where I grew up. Neighbors are nice and I have loved having them but I grew up without and also loved that - even more.
