People keep referring to it as Korean because the big spam attack we had last year was Korean.

Ah, that makes sense - like I said, I was mostly confused about why people were so focused on Korean specifically. Previous run-in explains it.

My initial assessment is that the bots are likely of Romulan origin. I believe they initially may have planned to cloak their identity by posting in Klingon, but then decided to make a random choice among Earth languages.
