I thought I use to have a spam button - but since the update it, as well as my abilty to stay logged in, seems to have disappeared.🤭🙉🙈🙊?

As was stated at the change over, no more spam buttons, now you mark it, it's checked and dealt with, no more feeding your dogs. NO NEED TO MARK SPAM ATTACTS, they show up pretty large.

That may work.
I too had problems initially with not staying logged in but it has worked for a while now.

It's even cleaner at the 3 AM to 6 AM time frame which was when the spammer dude was most active.

New security measures are in place. Still working through the ins and outs but so far so good.

I am going to unsticky this thread later tonight or tomorrow and let it die off the page. It's time for it to go away. It's no longer needed to alert anyone about the "we will clean up the mess" because I don't think we are going to have any more of those big messes.
But if I should need to do another sticky...I now know how.

This should cut down on not just the Chinese spam but the other normal looking sneaky spam but if you spot something that I missed...flag it and let me know.

Thank you, Pugsy.

I hope you were not offended when we were concerned for your health. We get very protective of our Guardian Angel. :D

Moderators aren't allowed to be offended.

And if she doesn't like it when we express concern or care, she can always just delete it as spam, if she wants to. :)

   I could have done that couldn't I ? Never crossed my mind but you guys did get the eye roll that goes along with "the look" (husbands' know what "the look" is).

As for me deleting something that isn't technically spam...or just because I don't like what was said or who said it.
I do have someone who I have to answer to and can see every little thing I might do here....so I am careful.

I know you all meant well and I wasn't upset over you guys expressing your concern.

Now if you all would just come over to my house and watch for that damned alien who comes by to wake me up for no reason and keep me from going back to sleep...and beat the hell out of him for me...that's how you guys could really help out.

I'll see what I can do. But you should know that the last time I got in a fight with an alien, things did NOT end well.

Going to unsticky this thread as I think there is likely no more need for it.
If something changes and the need pops up again I will do another similar thread.
For now the spam attacks are down to a much more manageable number and unlikely to flood the forum.

Thank you. They appear to have moved on to another forum I usually visit.

Ooops...sorry about that.
They are annoying little bastards for sure.
A couple of days ago I happened onto a forum instant messaging chat thing...live chat and the little bastards were spamming live chat on that forum.
And get this...it was a forum where the main discussion was forum security and preventing crap like that. Those folks were in big trouble.

It's a never ending war this spam stuff like this. Every time someone comes up with a way to block them they eventually figure out a way around the blocking or they try to anyway. It's been this way ever since there was an internet.
Sometimes the spammers win the battle...sometimes we win the battle but the war is never over nor do I expect it to be.

I tried to tell Al Gore that this spam-bot sort of thing was bound to happen one day, way back when he was thinking of 'taking the initiative in creating' all this stuff. But as usual, he refused to listen to me. Or to take my calls. Or to have his security detail stand down. (He can be like that sometimes, you know.) So, let that be a lesson to you, Mr. Gore, next time you think about trying something like this without thinking it through, OK?
